The 2025 AFL season is heating up, but players are already beginning to weigh up their futures beyond the year’s end. Here’s a roundup of the latest AFL trade rumours.

For a full list of free agents and out of contract players, check out our list here.

Adelaide Crows

Luke Pedlar – Has fallen out of favour at the Crows, and is reportedly on the radar of several clubs. Has a contract for 2026 with Adelaide.

Brisbane Lions

Brandon Starcevich – A restricted free agent at season’s end, the premiership defender has attracked significant interest from rivals, in particular West Coast and Fremantle. However, the Western Australian product has a significant concussion history, and is currently recovering from another head knock suffered in Round 1.

Carlton Blues

Tom De Koning – The hottest free agent property on the market, the star ruckman has been offered a $1.7 million, seven-year contract from St Kilda, according to reports. The Blues are set to only offer $1.1 million per year over the same period.

Jack Silvagni – A free agent at season’s end, the famous Carlton name is yet to open contract talks with the Blues and has attracted interest from elsewhere.

Collingwood Magpies

Brayden Maynard – Is seen as likely to remain at Collingwood despite a reported contract offer of $5 million over six years from North Melbourne.

Essendon Bombers

Sam Draper – A season-ending Achilles injury threw a spanner in the works of a new deal at the Bombers. Is out of contract at the end of 2025.

Fremantle Dockers

Geelong Cats

Tom Atkins – Has a two-year contract offer on the table from Geelong after a superb start to 2025 generated interest from rivals.

Oliver Wiltshire – Out of contract at season’s end, an outstanding start to the VFL season that saw him break into the Cats’ AFL team has caught the eye of rival clubs.

Gold Coast Suns

Matt Rowell Has been heavily linked to Geelong since news broke of a summer meeting with Cats officials. Is out of contract at season’s end. The Bulldogs are also keen.

GWS Giants

Leek Aleer – Is seen as highly likely to leave the Giants at year’s end, with the uncontracted key defender heavily linked to St Kilda. The Giants have offered a two-year contract, but have struggled to give him opportunities at senior level.

Finn Callaghan – Signed a four-year contract with GWS reportedly worth $1 million per season, after turning down an offer from St Kilda that was rumoured to be $17 million over 10 years.

Hawthorn Hawks

Max Ramsden – The ruckman, who is contracted until the end of 2026, is a trade target, having struggled to break into the Hawks’ team.

Melbourne Demons

Kysaiah Pickett – Once again is a player of interest at the trade table after being linked to several clubs in the past few seasons. Reportedly told Fremantle players in early 2025 he would be wearing purple for next season, but has two years to run on his Demons contract.

Clayton Oliver – Remains a player of interest despite being contracted to the Demons until the end of 2030. Has been heavily linked to Geelong amid reports he is keen on a fresh start after a turbulent few seasons.

North Melbourne Kangaroos

Luke Davies-Uniacke – Signed a whopping seven-year deal to remain a Kangaroo after looming as hot free agent property at season’s end.

Port Adelaide Power

Zak Butters – Is at the centre of heavy trade speculation despite having a further year to run on his current contract, at which point he will become a restricted free agent. The Western Bulldogs are in heavy pursuit, while Geelong have reportedly met his management, but has reportedly told the Power he will be honouring his contract to the end of 2026. The Power have offered a monster contract until the end of 2028 with the option to extend for a further six years at any point, according to reports.

Richmond Tigers

St Kilda Saints

Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera – The Saints star’s future is in limbo, having been linked to a return home to South Australia, where he could command a monster contract.

Sydney Swans

Chad Warner – Turned his back – for now – on monster offers from West Coast and Fremantle to sign a new two-year contract at the Swans, which will take him through to free agency.

West Coast Eagles

Oscar Allen – Becomes a free agent at season’s end, and is seen as highly likely to nominate Brisbane as his new home. Courted controversy after meeting with Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell in Perth, after which he was forced to make a public apology.

Harley Reid – Is contracted until the end of 2026, but has been at the centre of speculation virtually since he arrived at the Eagles, with Victorian clubs reportedly willing to over deals worth over $2 million a season for 10 years and more. Geleong and Hawthorn are seen as the likeliest teams to land the 2023 No.1 draft pick should he request a trade.

Liam Ryan – Is reportedly a trade target and is keen on a change of scene. However, is contracted until the end of 2026.

Western Bulldogs

Marcus Bontempelli – Was shockingly reported as being a player of interest for West Coast, with his Bulldogs contract expiring at season’s end. However, is seen as all but certain to remain at the Dogs.

Jamarra Ugle-HaganIs seen as all but certain to leave the Bulldogs at season’s end, with personal issues and off-field problems stemming back to September 2024 seeing him only sporadically attend training and strain relationships with teammates and Dogs officials. According to reports, would need to leave Victoria to continue his AFL career, with Brisbane and Sydney both holding interest. Has a contract for 2026 with the Bulldogs worth a reported $850,000.
