Doesn’t this trainer have history for being involved further than a trainer should be during a match.

Panthers facing sanction after trainer SPRUNG using underhanded tactic

Not evidenced by his try celebration

I too am a parent of a child with ASD, I have no sympathy for anyone who at any time picked on someone unable to stick up for themselves

The in the back rule is contentious as well for me as is the high contact rule in AFL. Because you can’t use your hands to push a guy in the back but you can run up and jump on top of his back with you whole weight and if your knee happens to hit him in the head that’s not high contact either because it wasn’t you hand, arm or shoulder. It’s a great game I loved playing it as a younger man and still love watching a Mach today but the nuisances of the rules do my head in and the interpretation of umpires is far and wide ranging.

'A system that punishes the wrong team twice': Why the AFL must implement a send-off rule

I love Trel, he has had to deal with a lot of expectations from a very young age some he handled well other stuff not so well. I just want to see the gap between his best games and his worst narrow to the point the media have little to talk about in regards to him.

Five and a Kick: Latrell magic buries Broncos in Bunnies boilover, Des defies doubters as Titans escape Knights' clutches

Trels field goal no doubt a brilliant strike of the ball in less than perfect conditions but the most impressive part of his game were the tackles he made defending the line even the Mariner try in the corner Trel was only half a step from saving that one his effort to be involved in the hard stuff taking hit ups out of the defensive end these are the elements of his game last night that impressed me far more than a field goal. Let’s hope he keeps it going on a consistent basis with the odd special pass or field goal to highlight how good he can be.

I never said it was their fault they have a part, sure. I firmly believe that the standards of the simple stuff passing the ball backwards, playing the ball with your foot not making contact with the head when tackling ever have been allowed to slide for the purpose of speedy up the game to make it more entertaining. I bet that it the referee department was isolated from the administrators of the game and officiated to the rules yes at first it would be stop start but over an adjustment period players and coaches would adjust to playing to the rules instead of seeing how far they can bend them before they break them.

Five and a Kick: Herbie goes bananas with blistering try as Dolphins give Eels the slip

Almost every rake in the game today is guilty of them and they are almost never picked up let alone pulled up either the referee dept has been told to ignore the short one that isn’t really an advantage or they have just forgotten that it’s a rule not to pass the ball forward.

Five and a Kick: Herbie goes bananas with blistering try as Dolphins give Eels the slip

Only caught the last 20 minutes or so Phins looked to pick up intensity then Parr decided when they got behind to start dreading the ball wide for multiple line breaks only to be denied once by Herbie and then again in the dying minute by the Hammer. Have wonder why that wasn’t being exploited when the game wasn’t almost lost.

They can speculate and pull apart the decision like the NRL shows do

'A system that punishes the wrong team twice': Why the AFL must implement a send-off rule

I come from a Rugby and League background but played a couple of junior seasons of AFL. I have often said to my mates who are diehard AFL guys why is there no send off in AFL? They don’t know and just say there never has been a send off rule. So I say for example I’m an AFL player, in my last game ever that happens to be the GF and the ball is bounced its game on and my first act is to make a bee line for my opponents best most influential player and lay him out and my team goes onto win the GF, apart from some public and media criticism no punishment for me no send off no ejection from the game I just have to be prepared for the cheap shots from the opposition for the remains of the game which I argue probably also works to my teams advantage through the opposition not executing their game plan or focusing on football and they say yep that could happen, still blows my mind the AFL has no mechanism to remove players who may deliberately cross the line from the game.
Additionally from a league perspective be wary of the bunker in the NRL it’s often the story not the game

'A system that punishes the wrong team twice': Why the AFL must implement a send-off rule

Well his continued reaction will only serve to bring him more unwanted attention until he learns self control or if he is in fact receiving unacceptable abuse outside of the rules because I can guarantee he is no angel himself when it comes to on-field banter, then he needs to report racial abuse immediately if his sexuality is being questioned that should also be reported immediately and the officials will investigate, but if he is just easily rattled and frustrated by his opponent then maybe he is in the wrong job. It would be racist to treat him differently than we treat other players and I reiterate it is not acceptable one his opponents should receive punishment if his ethnic background is the basis of their game day banter no exceptions no excuses, but if that banter doesn’t his reaction is now the problem.

Mate you are bang on if your a wanker your a wanker regardless of you skin colour and should be reminder of that until you change your behaviour. I have friend and mates who are from many different nationalities/backgrounds and we regardless of who it is call out each other. Pretty sure I’m the token white guy in that group of misfits but that’s not what makes us mates and friends it’s not what we are but who we are.

AFL News: Koch defends Rioli as more threats alleged, Dees president slams Oliver treatment, Port's mega Butters offer

Pretty sure every player who’s been accused of racist comments has apologised and been suspended anyway so why the difference. Is the AFL not also being racist by treating Rioli differently to non indigenous players.

AFL News: Koch defends Rioli as more threats alleged, Dees president slams Oliver treatment, Port's mega Butters offer

As long as what they say is not racial vilification or about sexuality pretty sure they can say what they want. Rioli needs to consider his reaction because that is the only thing he has any control over, if he can’t control that he can’t control himself and will always be vulnerable no matter what football club he plays at.

AFL News: Koch defends Rioli as more threats alleged, Dees president slams Oliver treatment, Port's mega Butters offer

The racial abuse card used as an excuse for threatening other players who by all reports have not racially vilified Rioli. Threats against another persons safety must be taken as seriously as racial abuse because both are as equally dangerous and can lead to serious unintended and potentially deadly consequences so must be stomped out immediately and without favour, these things escalate, and can do so without warning so to let this player who appears to have a history of using threats off the field get away with it, with no consequence because of his ethnicity is unacceptable by the AFL the club and the media.

We would not tolerate this sort of behaviour from a non indigenous player would we.

Then let them know they aren’t wanted and are free to seek another club if one wants them otherwise they will be playing Reggie’s and further depleting their own value on the market
Coaches put together a game plan – players execute it or they don’t or can’t
If the players can’t execute the game plan the coach is over estimating the players ability and if the players don’t execute the plan then the players are executing their own.
In the end it’s the coach who ends up being blamed and getting the arse.
Just saying not enough scrutiny is placed on others who have responsibility ie players, recruiting and CEO/CFO we must remember this isn’t under 8’s with the coach running around behind the players talking them through what to do during the game.

NRL News: Des man walking after clause revealed, Smith fires Roosters parting shot, Maroons star switches allegiances

Coaching at this level is more a management of players that you have and building a game plan that suits those players and one that they are captor executing. Although the way some of these guys pass and tackle needs to be seriously looked at

NRL News: Des man walking after clause revealed, Smith fires Roosters parting shot, Maroons star switches allegiances

Maybe try something different and back the coach sack a few underperforming players, I know the RLPA would have kittens but I don’t really care. To build a culture takes time and they need to pick and stick with a coach who can build culture like belly ach has in Melbourne like Bennett did at the Broncos. Sacking a coach who hasn’t at least had the opportunity to clean out the playing roster to a roster that has him all over it is just repeating past mistakes and hoping for a different result.

NRL News: Des man walking after clause revealed, Smith fires Roosters parting shot, Maroons star switches allegiances

Maybe, but they need to sell it as new coaching talent may see the new clubs as untarnished and without baggage as the bears should already be seeking a coach so he has input into recruitment of players he is going to be held to account for results.

The best teams have a next man up mentality, they also don’t care when or where they play they just want to play.

Injuries to players is part of the game over a season as is managing during SOO it’s nothing new, Wayne is probably one of the best at that.

The C suite at Souths must do better to manage our salary cap they have 11.4M and they must manage it better to give the team more balance because in my view a champion team will always be better than a team of champions.

If that means off loading a couple of high cost players and some who aren’t value for money to bring better balance so be it.

I’d take a team of players who play themselves to a standstill every week and do the simple stuff brilliantly. My biggest concern with the side is that you don’t know what team is going to turn up each week in terms of of effort in terms of energy some look exhausted 5 minutes into a game

'Just have to live with that': Bennett's crippling injury toll worsens with two more rising stars grounded

I’ll agree to disagree because the aboriginals communities I’ve worked in, in central Australia the elders had always explained to us that worked with them that they were and are custodians of the land not the owners and they never once performed a welcome to country or sought an acknowledgment of country that seems to be more an urban/activist indigenous “culture”

Australia Day again celebrates all Australians as part of a whole nation not just a single fractured minority group. I’m not married to the date however those in the indigenous community and their supporters who oppose Australia Day don’t have an Alternative they all agree on ultimately because they don’t agree with Australia being Australia.
