I don’t think the fact Sexton hasn’t played in a world cup semi-final is in any way a pre-requisite to publishing an autobiography.

Whilst the World Cup is the ultimate stage for international rugby, for Northern Hemisphere rugby nations, the 6n and Heineken cups are right up there.

Southern hemisphere countries tend to point to the World cup as only measure of success but succeeding in a tournament held once every 4 years is not enough to generate domestic interest in the sport.

Support for the game is currently far healthier in the north.
