I was born in Auckland in 1950. When we moved to Sydney in 1958, Uncle Bob stopped sending me the All Blacks Book for Boys. Playing Hooker with the UNSW Reserve Grade side, I made our touring team to NZ in 1973, and Uncle Bob wrote about it in the Levin Chronicle—"Prodigal Son Returns."

Got our attention, valid?.

A rookie coach for a home World Cup at 61? It might work for the Wallabies, but here's why it probably won't

We don’t ask where you are from, Malmesbury.
RSA vs AU RWC 2027 Final?.

Correct, Harry, so why now, such dire predictions? Your beloved Boks will be that much older too!.

Yes, this modern coaching gig is a slippery slope. I imagined I would be a good coach, so I did a training/accreditation course and became Balmain Rugby thirds forwards assistant coach.

When the 70-page coded training manual arrived, I thoughtfully resigned due to ill health.

Admittedly there was a 40 year gap between playing and coaching but it was second division in Sydney sub-districts, a long, long way down.

The Wrap: Rugby has made an uncomfortable bed with TMOs - now it's time to lie in it

Great article Billy. Good on you for offering your well constructed analysis. 🏉 😊

Yes that’s what we are talking about. The pathetic Breakdown.

The All Blacks sent out the wrong message under Razor. Now another star is off because of it

I think NZRU has been slow to react, along with AU too and has been shown up by RSA brilliant realignment with Europe in their time zone. Then they also pick their team from the world. Makes the rugby championship a two by two race. Good luck razo who obviously wants to pick overseas players.

Well said Geoff. My feelings were that it’s a game and things go right and wrong but the Tahs found a way to win so good on them. Great viewing.

The Wrap: Brumbies claim Australian bragging rights - and angry Waratahs fans should chill out

How do kiwi teams get the rub of the green. Never mind, oh what a feeling ! 🥊

Sorry Stuart but I’m glad Lancaster’s stocks are falling. 👎

The man who saved the All Blacks' pack - and might be bringing through a new golden generation

Jeez JD. Isn’t there a Nz blog for this Wizard of NZ fantasy tale?

The man who saved the All Blacks' pack - and might be bringing through a new golden generation

Agreed, W Evans. I like Creighton, solid and mistake-free with Donno off the bench, but naggingly, is Noah kicking goals? It will surely be a make-or-break for us at No. 10 vs the Lions.

Tom Lynagh is the form No.10 in Super Rugby. But starting him against the Lions is a risk Schmidt won't take

All I can think of is O’Driscoll being “cleaned up” by the ABs on the Lions Tour of NZ and white-washed in Richie’s book later. That said, Joe from the sideline will surely assist with the coach selection.

Just the mention of Stuart Lancaster gave me the shivers. A failed English coach, come on RA.

Hey. Parkesy, you could become a Tahs supporter now with those rebels in such good form ?

Vern Cotter's codswallop suggests All Blacks, and the Blues, have an honesty problem

Our two grandchildren enjoy their other grandparents Tesla, whereas we have a much more compact i30. Driving to the beach the other day, Tommy, aged six, pipes from the crowded back seat, “I wish I was in a Tesla”. 😛 😊

The Wrap: Chiefs and Reds win the big battles as Super Rugby shows a knack for half-arsed initiatives

Looking forward to the Crusaders vs Blues this weekend. Won’t a win by Crusaders knock the stuffing out of the Blues?.

The Wrap: Chiefs and Reds win the big battles as Super Rugby shows a knack for half-arsed initiatives

Yes, numpty, look back at Graham Henry and how NZ kept him and his coaching team intact and now Rob Penney is getting results, and it seems he has the team with him as well.

Great run home. Top 4 but needs a home semi at least.

McKellar gives update on injured star Suaalii, talks up 'destructive' Nela ahead of grudge match

I think these days, it’s just as much about the coaching team as it is about the coach. You could have Les Kiss with Larkham and Bowen maybe.

Phipps the Pinocchio: Australia's Super sides show none of the dominance in both hemispheres ex-Wallaby claims

It’s a Wrap Parkesy. I played in a very successful 1st XV at High School in the 60’s. One of the locks and 3-4 of the backs were out-and-out League players, and the rest played Rugby for school and club.
When we graduated, the league guys went onto the Sea Eagles and St George, while we softies went onto UNSW or Sydney Uni Rugby.
I’m not using any names because it’s a sensitive issue with their family, but it was a shock to see the damage done to our teammate by untreated concussions at our 50-year reunion, and he died 2-3 years later.
Also, my own brother, died from concussion injuries from being. knocked out in a building accident. It’s not a mental health issue, it’s not to be ashamed of. Its a big problem.
