That’s a long post to say, “Christy is crafting an article as we speak”.

The Wrap: Imagine how invincible the Chiefs would be if they shared players with the Warriors?

A wide-ranging wrap, Geoff. A lot happening in rugby! Two players stretchered off out of four matches played? Makes for a bad weekend on that count.

If Cooper had chosen country, he’d’ve been stuck behind Carter and Barrett.

Every team needs a Ben Smith (or equivalent thereof).

Nicely put!

You’re right, mz. And then the arguments would start about whether the crippling injury was a League injury or a Rugby injury. But still in every oval-ball watcher’s heart there is a hankering to see the hypothetical become real. What would an actual scrum look like, an actual contest of strength and guile, in a League game?

I guess we will never know. Truth to tell, I’m OK about that.

Or Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Analysis: Lions' pressure point that gives Wallabies hope as Farrell goes all in on breakdown dominance

The Highlanders would agree. But they came out poorly from their Australian tour.

Ikitau, Valetini step up to lead Brumbies into top two - but key injuries sour bonus point win over Force

Thanks MJ. What I was responding to, is that the Brumbies certainly look to be in contention, even if on balance today they look less likely to be eventual winners than do the Chiefs or Crusaders.

The tournament changes to knock-out rugby format. It’s a different game, and the cliches are true. Gotta be in it to win it. Anything can happen. Bounce of the ball.

So yes, dropping games to very lowly teams is a worry. Question is, how many bad days in the office can you get away with?

Are you saying that this team which is currently #2 on the table are not actual contenders?

Thanks for nothing, Jimbo.

Jimbo, You really are without grace, aren’t you?

Anyone got the territory and possession stats? In a wet weather ten-man-rugby game, that’s half the story.

Waratahs' finals hopes all but over after Daugunu magic sets up late Reds win, Suaalii knocked out in sickening blow

Jimbo, the answer is this. After genocide, epidemics, frontier wars which killed their people, land theft, being hunted for sport, theft of their children, gaolings, healthcare statistics, and education which reveals Australia has a third world nation in its midst, and being used as a political football by politicians at all levels especially Canberra – after all that, the original owners are still prepared to be welcoming and to show grace to visitors to these shores.

Your comments however show no grace whatsoever.

“People” here means “original owners of the land, who wish to welcome visitors”?

Shoulder, out for four to six months, just a week or so back. 😢

Three Kiwis, two Aussies and ONE bolter named in Lions squad as coach snubs son for Wallabies tour

So sad for Caelan Doris. Even with two “unannounced” vacancies it’s unlikely we will se him out here in Australia. Out for four to six months. 😢

Agreed. It’s also a great acknowledgement of player development, pathways, and structures which give people opportunity. So credit to the coaches and administrators, and the fellow team members who allow their best to shine, as well as credit to the players themselves for taking the risks and reaping the rewards.

Go read the Royal Commission reports. Catholics ain’t “woke”. It’s silly to suggest.

Australia has an excellent record in tennis and other Olympic sports of having dinky-speakers of Eastern European languages, who can hardly speak a sentence in English, becoming instant Australian citizens and attracting the “oi oi oi” crowd.

Thanks Tony. I acknowledge your view about allowing this activity to reach a wider audience and be normalised.

'I was sickened': The brutal new rugby-combat hybrid 'sport' where athletes risk their futures for a $20k wad of cash

Agree. He’s injured, and scared of blowing out a hamstring, achilles, or calf completely again. Three years of pain will do that to a man.

'He's only human ... get behind him': Lukhan says Wallabies must pick Tupou to have 'any chance' in Lions series and RWC

It’s almost like the money prize is needed to make it vaguely not boring.

A story: in 1987 at the first World Cup I was in the Millard Stand at Athletic Park, watching Ireland play Wales, in a match where it was obvious to everyone watching that neither team wanted to be there. It was awful rugby. After the forwards had ambled to yet another line out, a penalty was awarded. The bloke behind me said to his mate, ” I bet you $100 he kicks it over”. His mate took on the bet. But it didn’t make the kick any more interesting, or the game any less boring. I know this because I can’t recall anything about that match except it was so bad the spectators were trying anything, even stupid bets, to remain awake and conscious.

If there’s no cultural aspect in the activity, and the connectivity is the thing, then perhaps Mr Nemani could encourage something else be taken up as the activity. Such as bullfighting. Have some butchers kitted up and ready, and everyone can finish the night with a barbecue steak.

Thanks for the honest and straightforward response. Now that I’ve learned of it, I admit to being very surprised that The Roar supports and endorses this thing.
