Ikitau is playing 13 because he’s the best 13 we have in Australia. Pushing him to 12 to allow Suaalii to play at 13 cost Australia the tests against Scotland and Ireland so saying he should play there for the Brumbies is just a dumb call. Personally I’ve seen nothing from Suaalii to indicate he should wear Gold this year. Sure he’s a big strong guy who does well when teams are dumb enough to give him space, but he’s got a whole lot to learn about the game yet. He can’t tackle correctly, can’t pass, and even if he could doesn’t know when to and when not to, his positioning is crap and he can’t kick or know when he should and shouldn’t. The one skill he has, leaping to catch a high kick is nullified because he’s either out of position or playing somewhere where no one will kick for him. The player I feel sorry for is Kelleway. He has to spend so much time telling Suaalii where to be and what to do that his own game is falling away.
Bewildering selection calls that could damage Wallabies' Lions tour chances - five things
Thanks for the summary Geoff, I did giggle at the referee comment. I guess if all you are interested in is attack then Suaalii does look good. A big strong athlete who was always going to be dangerous with teams who gave him space. However, his defence, positioning, distribution and tackling are all well below what is required at even this level. The person I feel sorry for is Kellaway. He has to spend all his time telling Suaalii where to go and then covering for him when he’s not there and so his own game is struggling. Personally I hope Suaalii is picked for all the games against NZ it will help ensure the Bledisloe remains in NZ and means we only really have to worry about the Boks in the Rugby Championship
The Wrap: As ever, parochialism in Australian rugby rears its head in battle over Kiss appointment
While this result is disappointing, the growth of the squad and the players coming though show that there is still a big future for them. The NZ girls will move on and I think next season the teams will be closer. Coming 2nd to that team with the depth and experience the Black Fern girls had on the field is not unexpected and was still a fantastic result.

Dodgy calls being the reason! What a load of crap. The Force got beaten because they weren’t good enough. Good 2nd row, 2 good loosies and initially a good 9/10 combo. But best 15 on the wing so the 2nd worst one could start and a dodgy front row meant they were always going to struggle
'Disappointing': Blues benefit from dodgy calls but Force hurt themselves to end frustrating New Zealand tour
I don’t know why people expect him to change. He’s never been as good as his hype but at least when he was younger he did have speed. Now he’s just got a poor defence, and a crab attack that takes up everyone’s space.
Super Rugby teams, round 12: Beale back after 10 months, Kiss rolls the dice in Fiji, Jake Gordon returns for Tahs
When he had the assistants and selections of the previous coaching team he did well, but as he started making his own selections and getting his own assistants his results got worse and worse.
'It's a welfare sport': Eddie Jones on rugby's 'arrogance', 'cheap' Suaalii, 'sad' Brumbies and what must change
Beale hasn’t made a play for the last 6 years. He’s an overrated crap player who runs sideways taking up everyone’s space and still has poor defence. At least when he was younger he had speed, now he hasn’t even got that. Selecting Beale just improved the Blues chances

Because he doesn’t actually have any coaching skills. Every team he has coached has ended up worse and in a poorer state when he left. He’s a narcissistic dreamer who relies on bullying and threats to get people to follow his way and needs to buy in talent and knowledge because he lacks both. The difference is that Joe is a coach who understand rugby and understands people. He gets results without the bullying and constant harassment of people and relying on dollars to buy his skills elsewhere. Jones is a narcissistic fool.

What a delusional narcissistic tosser. The best thing for Australian rugby would be for him to stay away and never come back.

Well all the Blues need to do is get the ball carrier out to where the 15 is and they’ll score. Grealy has been one of the best 15’s this year and replacing him with a turnstile defence who was past his best 8 years ago I and gone down hill since seems a strange move. Chiefs will struggle with ALB out as he gets their backline working on both attack and defence. Reds have picked a strong team and could win this one. If Ardie does Ardie things it could be a tough match for the Highlanders, good to see their captain back at 12 as I think the team goes better with him there.

That is a good outcome for all. The difference between this transition and the debacle that wa DR and Jones is just amazing. Goes to show how incredibly poor all those decisions made under the previous administration were. Thankfully they have moved on.
'Honour of a lifetime': Kiss confirmed as Wallabies coach-in-waiting for World Cup, Schmidt to stay onboard
I must admit I enjoyed watching the Lynagh/Tate combination. They do seem to work really well together and seem to understand what the other is going to do. It was also great to see Campbell back and fitting in so smoothly. I think the next few weeks are going to see some changes to the standings and while I think the Brumbies and Reds will easily make the top six, I’m not sure any other Australian team will. For me the dark horse for the finals will be MP
Reds combination knocking on the Wallabies' door, the other bolter to tame the Lions - five things
Thanks Geoff and an interesting take on the TMO. While I get your point on the RWC and the knock on, I dare say there were a number of other law infringements that weren’t picked up so I’m not so sure going back to one missed by the on field officials is as critical as it’s made out to be. So many of the decisions made by the officials are subjective and even the clear law transgressions are still subject to a “are the material to what’s happening?” For example a 7 off side when the ball comes out the other side of the ruck, being off side didn’t affect the outcome; so move on. The same as a not straight throw that is uncontested so the direction of the throw not affecting the outcome. Even if we do use the TMO, he/she doesn’t always apply the “tactical” aspect of the application in the same way and so may or may not be correct. I still think we should go back to “only 2 plays before a stoppage – be that a set piece or scoring moment” and clear and deliberate foul play. While there will always be people upset at calls they believe are incorrect – such as a so called forward pass against the Brumbies, that’s actually just part of the game.
The Wrap: Rugby has made an uncomfortable bed with TMOs - now it's time to lie in it
not according to the people who matter, and unfortunately that’s not the people in the stands watching the game.
Brumbies' top two hopes dealt savage blow as Hurricanes steamroll Larkham's backline to snap losing streak
So many people don’t realize that there’s actually no law mentioning a forward pass. The law in question 11.6 says a throw forward may occur anywhere in the playing area so if the ball is not clearly forward out of the hands then the law hasn’t been transgressed regardless of the path of the ball once it leaves the hands
Brumbies' top two hopes dealt savage blow as Hurricanes steamroll Larkham's backline to snap losing streak
What a load of cry baby crap! You need to stop sulking and looking for blame that doesn’t exist except in your mind as an excuse for poor play by your team.

It was. A good close game with some great rugby on both sides
Brumbies' top two hopes dealt savage blow as Hurricanes steamroll Larkham's backline to snap losing streak
Yes! My Canes are back. I’m liking the Riogard/Love combination at 9/10 and Harkin is playing well at 15. I thought they did well keeping Valetini and Hooper quiet and that helped their win

Some interesting analysis there mate. I do wonder if they are looking at a few of the players who can play multiple positions a bit more. Some interesting thoughts on the 7’s players and where they fit. I think the 7’s have strengths in distribution, one on one defence and creating space. It’ll be interesting to see how this is all managed.
First Wallaroos squad of 2025 doesn't spring many surprises - but leaves plenty of tough questions
And if that’s true then they won’t be selected so all good. I actually think their defence is better than what a lot think but with so much more space in 7’s it’s harder to judge
'Set up to fail': Levi's World Cup bid in peril as agent slams Rugby Australia for 'unfair' Wallaroos selection process
I think if Australia wants to do well they need the best payers on the field. If a 7’s player comes in and demonstrates she’s better than the incumbent then she should replace her. If the incumbent wants to hold her place she needs to train harder and demonstrate she’s better. While I get that if a XV player had been trying for 3 or 4 years to break in, and was then upstaged by a better performing 7’s player it would be a disappointment, that’s sport and if there’s better players than you you have to train harder and be better. I do agree that there is probably not enough time for Madi to show she can play because she played in the 7’s tournaments and was then injured, but that’s the decision she made so live with it. If however she does come in and blitzes the XV game like she does at 7’s and is better than any of the current team then she should be selected

That’s good news for both Len and Australian rugby. While I’m not sure I’d put him as “best in the world” he’s certainly one of the best 13’s in Australia and his loss would be huge. Even though we’ll likely lose him after the RWC, having here for that tournament will certainly help our chances.
Wallabies lock down 'best defender across the globe' for World Cup despite signing short-term deal in England
That’ll be a real loss. In my mind he’s a better lock than Canham who while good in the lineouts is nowhere near as good around the field. I guess this was always on the cards as the Reds have too many locks to give them all decent game time. Pity he couldn’t stay at another super team though. I think the Highlanders could do with someone of his ability
'A real coup': Reds lose one of Australian rugby's most unheralded stars as Welsh club pounce on lock
That works for me
What will RA do when the Lions' money runs out? Preparing ourselves for the post-rugby future
Hahahahaha that article brought a smile. Love the way you take such an extreme view. An RA NFL team. That is outside the box thinking right there.
An American Super Rugby franchise? An Australian NFL team makes much more sense
