Pogo……………blinkered, or selective memory?

Waratahs' finals hopes all but over after Daugunu magic sets up late Reds win, Suaalii knocked out in sickening blow

I would have thought coaches are there, in part, to motivate. No real surprise McKellar is not delivering.

Tupou had some really good games when he was in Melbourne I thought; seemed much more motivated. His primary role is in the set pieces; if it is expected he make tackle breaking runs, that’s just not going to happen. We don’t see Uini Atonio, and other front rowers and other big guys like Meafou, Skelton making tackle breaking runs but it does take 2 or 3 tackler’s to corral them.

'Do I know how to play rugby?': Wallaby's extraordinary admission ahead of Lions amid crisis of confidence

Three Kiwis, two Aussies ……………..and two yarpies.

Three Kiwis, two Aussies and ONE bolter named in Lions squad as coach snubs son for Wallabies tour

Is it a coaching issue; both at the Waratahs and RA? When he was a less than enthusiastic about moving to NSW, after the Rebels assassination, I had a feeling all was not well.

'Do I know how to play rugby?': Wallaby's extraordinary admission ahead of Lions amid crisis of confidence

I appreciate and understand your point/s however it is an attitude that is peculiar to QLD.
If it is designed to confuse other teams as to when a player will be able to play again (pretty easy to estimate by the type of injury when a player will be back) it is puerile given all other teams are transparent about the type of injury and add TBC, or more, as to when the player is expected back.

Beware of the Irish gift of the gab

'Glad I'm retired': O'Driscoll lavishes praise on Suaalii, issues Wallabies warning ahead of Lions squad naming

Another BP…..PB. You should be writing satire for TV as well.

Going off on bit of a tangent, if expansion is the goal perhaps we could look closer to home. In last weekends Bordeaux/Toulouse European Cup game there were a few New Caledonian born players on the field. SR in Noumea?……works for me; morning espresso, croissant or baguette before the game?

An American Super Rugby franchise? An Australian NFL team makes much more sense

Decaf – we do not have one, forget exceptional, very good fly-half let alone four. O’Connor may be shaping up as the best on offer.

Wallabies star commits to Rugby World Cup campaign, reinforcements back for Tahs

East Coast Aces – you are probably being parochial. McDermott is just not very good; ineffective kicking game and non-non-existant passing game. If you want to be parochial Thomas and Werchon are significantly better.

SB – I routinely turn off the sound for all Super Rugby games. The commentary is banal and distracting. I think I see more without the verbal diarrhoea

'They're gutsy': Junior Wallabies claim remarkable comeback win over Boks to keep U20 title hopes alive

Maybe, but scooting around rucks is not, and should not be, a KPI.

I’m not a fan of the ‘just not yet’ club. Get him in there to show what he can do. I did say it probably will not happen but give it a try in QLD. But then again QLD do not have Wallaby success as a priority.

Bewildering selection calls that could damage Wallabies' Lions tour chances - five things

Elslacko – I don’t mind a crash baller at 12; think Danty and Moefana (France) and physically he is probably similar.

Bewildering selection calls that could damage Wallabies' Lions tour chances - five things

Gordon and White are head and shoulders above the next best in skill levels. Third best is Lonergan and perhaps Wilson as a smokey. For me, White is playing his best rugby since moving to the Force; their style of play facilitates White’s skills.

Christy – I would put Daugunu at 12. I know it won’t happen but his physicality in that position would be better than most others in my mind

“After all, the Brumbies and Waratahs are controlled by Rugby Australia.
If anyone can get everyone on the same page, surely it’s those two franchises.”

RA?…………piss-up and brewery come to mind; very fast.

Bewildering selection calls that could damage Wallabies' Lions tour chances - five things

Mate mckellar didn’t fail at the brumbies by any measure.

Maybe my memory is failing; what competitions has he won? To the best of my knowledge the only Australian coach who has a winning tick to his name, in circa 20 years, is Cheika.

Tahs smashed by Brumbies despite Suaalii heroics as Larkham's men make Super statement

It seems the ACT and Force coaches have been paying close attention to France’s style of, creating space, rugby. The Waratahs are being coached to ‘play’ 1950’s rugby

Tahs smashed by Brumbies despite Suaalii heroics as Larkham's men make Super statement

Another example of RA’s naivety and consequent incompetence. They gave the Waratahs a squad of extremely capable players and then appointed a failed coach. McKellar, touted by many blinkered observers as a Wallabies coach, failed at the ACT, failed at Leicester and is now failing at the Waratahs. Is McKellar a part of RA’s nepotistic cohort? It would appear so.

Tahs smashed by Brumbies despite Suaalii heroics as Larkham's men make Super statement

“The Drua played a physical game and we missed too many tackles.”

Knock me down and butter me with marmalade……….when was the last time Pacific Island teams did not play a physical game.

Australian teams are not good at tackling around the legs, Force probably the best at trying to do it………simply too much league influence in tackling technique in Australian rugby. No legs……… no line breaks, no post contact metres.

Last-minute try sinks Reds despite JTA heroics, Drua keep alive faint finals hopes

We needed rose tinted glasses to think we had a chance in the ’23 RWC so the plan of building for ’27 was rational. For me that is exactly what was and is happening.

Not getting out of the pool stages is probably exactly what we needed to get a moribund RA out of their long lunches; unfortunately they are still screwing it up.

'It's a welfare sport': Eddie Jones on rugby's 'arrogance', 'cheap' Suaalii, 'sad' Brumbies and what must change

No surprise to read so many ‘playing the man and not the ball’. You would not want to be on some form of transport with them where pragmatism, maturity and unemotional decision making was crucial.
Take the name Jones out of the article and read the narrative. Then pick holes (if you can)in what has been said rather than simply being nasty and puerile. Very difficult to object to what the article says.
As for “I think rugby has got this (ego issue). I think it’s nearly everywhere that I’ve played and coached, apart from possibly South Africa. There’s this sort of inner arrogance that we know everything and we know better and our system’s OK and we don’t need to change.” – classic!! That is RA to a ‘T’. We deserve better.
And…….there were 28 instances where the word ‘mate’ was used. Some seem to think that is important

'It's a welfare sport': Eddie Jones on rugby's 'arrogance', 'cheap' Suaalii, 'sad' Brumbies and what must change

Yes. It seems to reflect a significant section of the population where mediocrity, and not just in rugby, is acceptable. Scared of setting a high bar because it is too challenging.

Wallabies bombshell as Kiss to replace Schmidt in 2026 as part of 25-year first

For gawd’s sake, please, live in the here and now!!
Ronan O’Gara who was seriously touted as a Schmidt replacement, has been suspended several times more than Cheika but received no opprobrium at all. Why the double standard?

Wallabies bombshell as Kiss to replace Schmidt in 2026 as part of 25-year first

Kingplaymaker – 100%.

RA have unambiguously gone for second best, at best. Then again, accepting less than the best available characterises the timidity of RA I guess.
