What’s it like in the League section of ROAR VC? See I don’t have any interest in the game so never read it. Good to see you ar still keeping an eye on Union though mate.

The Wrap: Imagine how invincible the Chiefs would be if they shared players with the Warriors?

Morena Geoff, yep table for super looking quite interesting at top. I thought the Crusaders/Chiefs game on Saturday, while being an absolute cracker, showed some interesting points. In my opinion in forwards, the Crusaders only really had parity(or maybe slight advantage) in the front row, behing that it was all Chiefs, I firmly believe Vai’i is the best lock in NZ (if not in all super teams) at the moment, Ah Khuoi is a great partner for him. And loosies were a cut above the Crusaders , Jacobson is so under valued I think, Sititi looks to be coming back to his top game, and Parker is pretty handy too. Their style of forward play suits Ratima at 9 who runs beautiful support lines and links so well, it keeps on going with DMac pulling the strings and Tupaea playing the game that loosues love make advantage line and let them come in behind. Anyway as a Canes man, I certainly still enjoy teams like them, same as Brumbies who look faifly good for a shot at No 2 spot, their clash with Crusaders will make for good watching.

Olly, I repeat, if someone has a wishes to play rugby and live in another country , When a player goes it opens a position for a new player to become professional down here. And if the siad person decides to make that place his permanent place to reside, he should have rights to represent the country after a qualifying period. And if NH have the population, and money why shouldn’t they be able to pay players to play there? It happens in all walks of life. Rugby has one of the best qualifying periods etc of most sports, but we can’t wrap up players we can’t afford in SH.

Three Kiwis, two Aussies and ONE bolter named in Lions squad as coach snubs son for Wallabies tour

Fancy these countries picking players who want to live there huh? Hell just imagine if you had to play where you were born etc. As I say ,I dislike the grandparent and even parent rule, but I genuinely have not the slightest problem with a player who goes to Ireland/England etc playing for the country where they CHOSE to live. Same as I don’t really mind the clubs over there (or USA etc etc) offering good coin to our players to go there and play, same as other sports like soccer/NBA/NRL. At least rugby has a time limit you have to reside in the country. I remember when we used to have the same moan about players moving provinces etc in amateur days.
Also I often see ads in rugby news etc for players to go on play club rugby in Aus, and no doubt there same overseas for here. The likes of Force, Reds etc have no worries about employing players that have learnt their game in NZ. People in glasshouses have to be a little carful where they throw stones.

That’s only probably because of not having the money to do it Olly. Just out of interest, remind me which school Taniela Tupou went to? Not pointing fingers at all, just saying not always the case? Noone is perfect really, and pointing fingers at NH is just crazy! See I have no problem with the fact that G-P , Aki and Lowe played and learnt rugby in NZ, and are playing for Ireland and Lions etc, they have chosen that country to live in , and so it probably their home. Same as former kiwis living in Aus, after a certain time, I consider them Aussies , so have no probelm if they choose to live there.

I actually think the parent and grandparent rule should be turfed SB, but it’s not going to is it?

Kind of agree Fun Bus, also the article should say there is 3 former kiwis, and 2 former Aussies shouldn’t it?

The TMO doesn’t decide what goes on the screens Rich. It’s the TV producer. TMO should just carry on doing their job, and not worry about bloody replays etc.

'Disappointing': Blues benefit from dodgy calls but Force hurt themselves to end frustrating New Zealand tour

Rich, which part of tries are always checked don’t you understand? The tries are checked by TMO behind the scenes. Because you didn’t see it on TV doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Toms don’t work off tv images, they have their own, with multiple screens.

The ref bashing is ridiculous , but so are some of the comments about the Force. They were beaten fairly well, but this is more how good the comp is, teams can find it hard to win on the road. If any team missing the top 6 is not good enough for the comp, and shouldn’t be in it,we will have a short comp.

'Disappointing': Blues benefit from dodgy calls but Force hurt themselves to end frustrating New Zealand tour

Rich, the TMO actually checks every try in background, and if needed tells ref it needs looking at. It’s not sometimes,or only something glaringly obvious, they check them all.

Yep Skcor, seems that the case with most teams at some stage of year. Almost as if when the injury strikes, it strikes right through team. Almost virus like.

Reds' Super Rugby title hopes dealt blow after Wallaby's injury revealed as Kiss hints at changes for Drua clash

Actually wasn’t TMO in last Lions test was it Geoff. I sure it was AR the other French ref?
I was at game and sure I remember it that way. I never worried anyway, as the final decision was what the ref decided, and as someone who coached rugby from kids to senior, and always drummed into players the Ref’s the final word, I couldn’t disagree anyway.

The Wrap: Rugby has made an uncomfortable bed with TMOs - now it's time to lie in it

And long may rugby stay the same Geoff. I know the rules are a bit complex etc at times, there are alternatives for those that can,t understand things. I am not sure why anyone finds them too complex anyway. I think I enjoy having to operate brain when watching sports, probably why I find some sports to boring to watch longer than 20-30 minutes.

Geez Jake, have you remembered Deans non try/try in 1905?? 😂 😂

The Wrap: Rugby has made an uncomfortable bed with TMOs - now it's time to lie in it

Yep Geoff, I actually make sure I always listen to Kirifi’s aftermatch interviews, we probably see more here in NZ , and he never fails to give me the impression of someone who thinks about what to say, and not just a cliche’ machine. I thought his one after the Force game was another I enjoyed. I remember one he did after an NPC game that Wellington had just lost, the interviewer said , commiserations Du Plesis, he reponded with “why, noone has died, we only lost a game of rugby”. Good to listen too.

I think Max, because the TMO hasn’t got the job of identifying knock ons in open play. He can only call one after try has been called, otherwise he would have to be in refs ear every single knock on etc ,just in case a try is called. Anyone watching on TV could clearly hear (or should of) Doleman say, I think it a knock on, but play advantge will check after. The next breakdown was down other end of field, I happy with that, I don’t want refs blowing up and stopping what would of been advantage to Force. Then TMO did make a mistake and saying it a knock on, and Doleman rightfully corrected him, no biggie. Personally, I acn take or leave TMOs (I can handle human make mistakes etc), but in thsi day and age apparently everything has to be ticked of.

Guess the TMO you will find is looking at most tackles, tries etc in background. They got multiple screens up with all camera angles running all the time.

Brumbies' top two hopes dealt savage blow as Hurricanes steamroll Larkham's backline to snap losing streak

I think you might find the TMO got Williams to look at high shot. In what world do people think the refs look at what sideline says??

Brumbies' top two hopes dealt savage blow as Hurricanes steamroll Larkham's backline to snap losing streak

It was looked at and cleared. All tries are looked at as a matter of course anyway.

I can se both sides to the Muirhead tackle, he did jump etc which is illegal, but could still see both sides of the argument on it. Seems none was calling for head contact that was given a YC on here. I honestly thought the refs were bang on and YC was right, but there are 2 points of view there too.

Brumbies' top two hopes dealt savage blow as Hurricanes steamroll Larkham's backline to snap losing streak

Lol Juzza, you could just say a try and a head high shot were turning point, 😂

Chiefs smash Force despite Harry Potter magic

Also what is conveniently not mentioned in here on discussions that it wasn’t a one off ANZAC proposal anyway, it was going to be every year, and NZR would lose money on home tests under RA’s proposal. I quite happy it not on because I dislike commercialising the day, but NZR I called it off for money reasons from what I understand, not for why I don’t like it.

'I'm sleeping well': Kiss adamant Reds haven't taken their eye off the ball despite Wallabies' coaching hunt

Never seen sport there Again, I think only time I have been there was to an Eric Clapton concert many moons ago. Don’t go to Soccer or league so never had a reason to go there again. I forgot about the running track, because I don’t even watch the 2 sports I mentioned.

The NZR is 'weak and short-sighted' to allow All Blacks to play in Europe - and they're damaging Super Rugby

I agree Again, if rugby died in NZ everytime I have read it was , I would struggle to remember the game! Hell it wasn’t meant to last for 5 years after the Boks came in ’81, that was after I read it was history when league first got a bit popular in early mid 70s, with kiwis getting a few test wins, and then when NZ first made soccer WC finals etc. It will alsys have people who put death wish on it like here, but suspect it will keep trundling along, sometimes more and sometimes less popular.
