Just becuase Ikitau can play 12 doesn’t mean Wright can manage a game. In fact, until this year under Schmidt Tom Wight often had moments that showed he wasn’t clued in enough to play FB never mind ten.

I don’t agree but if that’s the case, then processes in place at RA for identifying flyhalf talent need an overhaul. You don’t need to undermine the processess that identified and nurtured the likes of TW.
I just think moving TW to ten is robbing Peter to pay Paul, while I do recognise 10 is one of if not the most important position.

My point is that I’d rather see another “specialist” FB in the squad behind Wright than rejigging the wingers into a fullback for one test at a time while TW is unavailable.
Let the wingers keep winging and bring in a fullback

Why even add Tom Wright to the mix, at some point you have to be realistic and look at it from a resources point of of view. Tom Wright is one of the most exciting attacking threats at fullback, let him be a fullback.
If you move him to 10, you have to fix fullback. I don’t think it’s smart to forever be moving the goalposts

Wright is the man in pole position, but as a pure fullback, I think he’s ahead of the rest. Let AK and MJ do what they do best on the wing

For me, as an out and out 15 he’s playing as well as if not better than the names mentioned above, across the entire SRP season that is

It’s a great point Leroy and I don’t think Schmidt should pigeon hole JAS as a centre if his game indicates he’s suited to back three. But with the amount of depth in that back three position, I think there’s a strong case for keeping him out of the equation in that selection dilemma

I did pick out the one big line and I appreciate it was a wider conversation, I just think both hemispheres would struggle in each others competition
Former Wallaby's SRP comments were absurd - and fans from up north have every right to be upset
Great point Fin and I think it’s great referees are looking to keep games ticking over and moving across the competitions.

Fair point Asda!

Oh I agree, I think he was talking about the pace. It’s just an interesting idea and I think each hemisphere would struggle in the other

I agree and would imagine a little tongue in cheek as well. Not like a #9 to get under opposition skin !

Thanks very much Mzilikazi
Another loss for O’Gara at the weekend is compounding pressure on his position.
Sexton handing around the current Irish setup at the moment, definitely one to keep an eye on.
I’m from Dublin born and bred and loving Perth so far. I’ve spent enough time watching Leinster in the rain, really enjoying the Western Force playing in these sunny afternoon fixtures.
Is savvy operator O’Gara using Wallabies to save his own job?
That would be a major coup but he seems to be loving life in Leinster at the moment.
I know I’ve suggested RA don’t need to go in the same direction as Schmidt but I think JNs style is too contrasting.
Do the wallabies have a profile of player to deliver his blitz defense combined with paint by numbers pack? I’m not so sure
The Wallabies' coaching option no one is talking about... who's spent plenty of time with Joe Schmidt
I agree on the Schmidt handover point Muglair.
I don’t necessarily think RA have to go with a similar coach, who can carry on the current plan. I often think teams are better making clear breaks and commuting fully to the new direction.
England are a great example, after Felix Jones left, their new part time defense coach was tasked with implementing Jones’ blitz system. And England leaked tries all November and into the six nations

Thanks Paddy!
I agree, I can see the Force having to work a lot harder for their scores, with the reds pouncing on opportunities. I think how the force respond to those types of swings in momentum and on the scoreboard will be vital.
Force for real? What to watch out for, and what we could learn in SRP game of the round
I didn’t even mention the 10s! Really excited to see both our halfs pulling the strings today

Oh do tell Revok! Who else has Skelton endorsed ?

Couldn’t agree more Karen!
I think a real strength of Joe Schmidt is that he will have clearly laid out for each player what he needs to see from them this season to earn international honours. He’s also a coach who believes in emphasising a player’s strengths rather than focusing an all the areas they need to improve.
Round 1 of Super Rugby Pacific has already revealed Joe Schmidt's next Wallaby
Courtney Lawes is a high bar for sure. Keep an eye out on him come Lions time as a long shot for the squad. Still doing damage in the ProD2 in a bid for promotion. But absolutely, abrasive and athletic are great description for him. This weekend versus a classy Brumbies pack will be a great challenge for him.

I agree Chips, Wilson and Bobby AB’s ability to move means there’s lots of different combos they could work with. I like Uru and think his familiarity with a Wilson McReight and McDermott could cause havoc in the final quarter of games with the running lines they run off the each other

Potter with a pretty impressive outing last night. He’s growing every game.
