NRL should focus on blatant conflicts of interest rife in the game instead of trying to control TV agendas
Really great article Mary, especially the point about Rugby Australia, I always found it concerning when they had a $2Million+ overspend last year and there was no real interrogation of how this came about. Why? because the journallists that should have been investigating this overspend were those enjoying the gravy, with five star chefs and French Champagne. The good thing about the NRL is there is alway a journalists – like yourself – not afraid to call the game out. Keep up the good work Mary.

This is why people view this competition as a joke.

Suaalii the saviour? Tahs superstar is about to take Super Rugby by storm - and spark Aussie resurgence
The NRL is a domestic rugby competition and it seems to make money?
Locked in a losing embrace - what must change in Australian rugby to fix the game's key problem
Over the top? Not at all I think comparing him to Dally Messenger and Michael Jordan is entirely reasonable. While he’s at it Joseph may as well sort the situation in Gaza and have a crack at lowering interest rates too.

If they cannot find a way to make domestic Rugby profitable they will run out of Money again.
Locked in a losing embrace - what must change in Australian rugby to fix the game's key problem
But the contstant overvaluing of Internationals over a strong domestic/club game is sending Rugby broke in this country.
Locked in a losing embrace - what must change in Australian rugby to fix the game's key problem
Is that the mark of success for the vegas game? I am genuinely interested as it got record ratings here. I am not sure what makes it a success, but the fact it did not attract a wagering sponsor and had a US TV audience of 60K makes it a failure, why are they doing it again?
Wildcards, personalities, Aussies standing up: Five things Super Rugby Pacific needs in 2025
Too many excuses about crowds, they arent good enough and need to be better. They should be keeping Waugh up at night but they wont be.

The Rebels getting kicked out was and Is a big deal, they fact they are suing RA is even bigger, when Souths were kicked out of the ARL/NRL there was literally 100s of Articles. The fact that only Geoff is writing about this surprises me.
The Wrap: World Cup hosting debacle yet another dark chapter for Australian rugby
The Tahs haven’t gone close to filling that stadium and that is not going to change anytime soon.

Win Bledisloe Cup every second year, beat the Lions and become the world No.1: RA's bold five-year plan revealed
In all seriousness, with the new two game format I cannot see us ever winning it, we need to win both games and we have proven that we absolutely cannot win in NZ.

Granted, and the week before at Arsenal he was very good. However that day at Manchester Latrell made him look amateurish. My point is he is good but he’s just not game breaker good yet and being so young he really feels the pressure, picking him is foolish it will be bad.
Suaalii call up is a huge gamble Joe Schmidt didn't have to take - and ignores RA's 'win now' edict
I’m thinking more world cup final and NRL finals.
Suaalii call up is a huge gamble Joe Schmidt didn't have to take - and ignores RA's 'win now' edict
Folau had already played Super Rugby, he had won NRL premierships, 4 Nations and an origin. Something tells me he was a little more prepared than Joseph.
Suaalii call up is a huge gamble Joe Schmidt didn't have to take - and ignores RA's 'win now' edict
Schmidt has clearly made this decision to keep his bosses happy. Is Joseph really that good? He seemed to struggle on the big stage in League, fair enough he is only 21. But I just don’t see how this works against England, it could be really ugly.
Suaalii call up is a huge gamble Joe Schmidt didn't have to take - and ignores RA's 'win now' edict
In a country that is obsessed by code wars Suaalii is the face of it. It’s not about what he can do on the field it’s about keeping the broadcaster happy and the administrations ego stroked.
Wallabies need Suaalii like a hole in the head - RA's recruitment folly should be exposed and never repeated
Until they run up a 2 million dollar overspend. Why is it so hard to grasp that the sport needs to show restraint?
