The umpires wouldn’t have to make a decision there and then either. There could be a ‘third umpire’, or as you said a judiciary panel which can look back on footage of the incident, and then earpiece through to the on-field umpires once they’ve made their decision if that incident is worth a card or not. If every other sport manages to do it, I’m sure the AFL can.
'A system that punishes the wrong team twice': Why the AFL must implement a send-off rule
Well said. These things only come up every 100 years, so to see it almost forgotten was incredibly disappointing.
The AFL dropped the ball with Hawthorn's centenary celebrations - the Hawks deserved far better
My bad. I forgot the Force existed. Hardly anyone watches them either.

I completely agree. As West Australian myself, I love to see Western Australian things succeed from beginning as WA roots. I don’t know a lot about NRL myself, so my input is quite irrelevant, but I can’t see a Perth rugby team taking off to much, especially if there scheduling games the same night as the AFL.

Disappointing result in the end from Carlton. They promised so much over their last 3 games, especially against Geelong. Their midfield looked very lazy.
The Blues' clash with Adelaide is a must-win - here's how they can get it done
I can’t wait until round 11. Thursday night down in Geelong. I think we’ll some more words being said there.

I have noticed this year the Eagles have been much better around the ball. Often in the games they’ve been smoked in there’s just a couple of things which they’ve been very poor in, mostly in the backline. The Eagles are very undermanned down back and will need to invest or draft a key defender this season. You can’t give up 100 points every week and expect to win games. None the less there is still far to many inside 50s from the opposition. The wins will come eventually though.
Rebuild vs resurrection: It won't be the best game of the round, but Eagles-Dees could be the most intriguing
I have heard many rumours that tomorrow could be King James’ last game if the Lakers happen to lose. He does not intend to have a farewell season like other players did. I hope he goes again for at least next season. He’s still in the top 15 players in the league in my opinion, even at 40 years old.
The end looks nigh for the King - will LeBron finally abdicate his throne?
Gold Coast are dropping. They’ve played the bottom 5 teams so far (West Coast, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Richmond, and Sydney), as well as Adelaide (which they should have lost to because Rankine marked that ball). Can’t see them making the 8 unless the confidently beat teams when the play outside of Queensland and the Northern Territory. They’ve only played West Coast, North, and Richmond on the road, losing to Richmond. Unfortunately we will need to wait until Round 11 to see them play outside of the northern states again, playing in Brisbane this weekend followed by 2 games in Darwin.
AFL Power Rankings: Blues rise FOUR spots... but are they in the top eight?
Massive three weeks coming up for West Coast with three very winnable games. They meet Melbourne and St Kilda at home as well as Richmond at the ‘G. If they come out of Round 10 still winless, their last four years of chilling at the bottom of the ladder is a complete waste. They must win at least 2 of these games to earn some respect back. In their support, they have faced the toughest fixture so far this season, none the less they should have won more than 2 quarters by now.

Very unlucky not to get off. I can’t see much else that Curtis could have done in this situation (apart from letting Josh Sinn run off with the ball and not tackling him). Playing the game involves a risk, and the players know that.

Yeah that would be nice but unfortunately a 34 game fixture would be far too long.
The bad, the ugly and the simply inexcusable: The AFL's biggest disappointments of 2025
The Collingwood favouritism by the AFL is so frustrating, and for that matter the Victorian favouritism. Collingwood only play at 7 different stadiums all year, including 14 MCG games. The Giants play at 12 different stadiums, yet play at the ‘G once. I don’t know how the AFL expects these smaller clubs to win games, especially come finals time if there only going to give them 1 shot at the MCG the whole home-and-away season. The MCG teams will play all the other MCG teams at the MCG, and then as soon as they play a non-Vic team or one of the smaller market Melbourne teams the game gets chucked at Marvel. The only 2 times Collingwood don’t play a home game at the MCG is against the Saints and Eagles. Sure, I get the idea of playing big market teams against each other at the MCG; it would be stupid to see a Carlton vs Collingwood game at Marvel, but the smaller and non Victorian teams are never going to get better if they keep getting stripped of opportunities. There’s a reason why the six MCG teams have won 14 out of the last 18 premierships combined.

I agree. There was something really special about Oracle Arena which every other arena these days doesn’t bring.

Yes. And often the higher up the stands you go (the cheaper the seats), you see more people wearing the shirts.

For the sake of the league, I hope Jimmy Butler is fit for the Warriors next game. If the Rockets happen to beat the Warriors, they’re not going past the Timberwolves or Lakers. To inexperienced. I can’t see the Rockets beating the Warriors after yesterdays game though. Steph’s to locked in even without Jimmy!

Reid showed a lot of fight today. He looked like he wanted to be in Eagles colours. The next couple of weeks will be make or break when it comes to where he will be next year.
