An organisation suddenly goes from spending 27m to 50m on internal wages . Thats a 23m yearly extra spend. The other amounts mentioned are much smaller and are not recurring annually.
Remember in the Lowy days Football Australia was also paying for running both leagues, and doing it on a tiny budget compared to the riches of today.
Lowy was god tier in administration to the incompetent lemon tier shown by both the APL and now Football Australia.

The A-League Men finals are off to a flyer - but can anyone stop Auckland?

It doesnt matter if Western United win, because the only team they will host against is Victory.
Wanderers United hosted in Melbourne would have been 13-15k with and that would be dependent on 8-10k Wanderers fans.
The one thing they need to be aware of if Auckland host, make sure the away bay is as small as possible, you will be lucky to get 500 city fans or 200 Western United fans make the grand final.

Arzani inspires Victory to big finals win in milestone match as Wanderers' season comes to an end

They are making more money than ever, its not the key statement,
the key statement is the extra 23m a year in salary expenses.
from 27m to 50m increase,
I wonder who is getting all that money.
Johnson is not just a goose he is a money waster like Danny Townsend.

FA CEO Johnson stands down, former Matilda named as interim replacement

Arnie has always been a user and out for himself, he plays everyone for pay rises, always spends big at clubs , when CCM couldn’t afford players his priority was getting himself a payrise . Then he pretends he is doing the Socceroos job out of vocation and then pretended he quit for the good of the team.

They went there for the money and if the general population to have to live through the danger why are the cricketers the first to make a run for it.

“Significantly, employee-related expenses rose from $27 million in 2023 to almost $50 million. Some of those costs relate to the change of two national team coaches, former Socceroos boss Graham Arnold and ex-Matildas coach Tony Gustavsson, including severance payments for them and their support staff.”

I thought Arnold stepped away, sounds like Johnson is running pigs at the trough.
Everyone who has supported this guy is looking more and more like clueless numpties.

Its interesting that no one has any idea how rugby league works and is really funded for most teams.
There is only one reason to involve the Bears and that is they have a pokie palace their leagues club which will help cover the losses this team makes along with WA govt funding. The second Brisbane team its the pokie palace funding it as well.
Melbourne and Perth will always lose money, the ratings in those cities will not earn a cent for any TV deal and same applies to the AFL teams in NSW and QLD despite whatever people say, the difference is Vlandys has someone else paying the bills while the AFL is putting in about a hundred million per year to NSW and QLD. In the case of PNG team its making money off the govt funding.

The Saudi stooge has done a runner now that his main job is done not bidding for the world cup.
Womens world cup zero promotion was organised by him, he has done nothing useful just riddent the wave of success the Matildas despite his incompetence.

FA CEO Johnson stands down, former Matilda named as interim replacement

Why?
Eden Park is very unlikely.
Melbourne they can only use AAMI because of the AFL so no benefit if Victory host.
City Victory would be a sell out.
City Wanderers would be a near sell out.
City Adelaide would be about 25k
City West United was 21k.
The only scenario where they could really clean up is Wanderers host Adelaide at Olympic park would get 60k.

A-League finalists all have worthy championship narratives – except the club nobody likes

Adelaide are hardly accidental finalists , the performance by Popovic their ex player guaranteed their place, yes there were other bad players in Sydneys team and Costa was 95% responsible for the first goal.
City have had one of the best narritives, hit by a lot of injuries and the youth came in and actually did a better job for a while.
I dont see why one would talk about their lack of fans when you have Macarthur and Western United . City can get about 15k to a grand final MAcarthur and Western United its 5k.

Valkanis take out City where he had performing team and took over because Schip had to go back to Europe his record is worse than Zad.

Insta Noodles have got to be the biggest scam on the planet. The texture of normal noodles which you boil for a few minutes longer is so much better than insta noodles.

The A-League Men finals are here - and they're missing a huge name

It sounds like Arnie was pushed why would you have a clause saying you cant coach another asia team there if it was not of the deal to pay him out. Iraq they are in a good position why was the coach sacked, even if its due to being in the easy group.

Iraq claim ex-Socceroos boss Arnie as head coach with World Cup hopes on the line

Newcastle and Brisbane I am suspicious about both clubs and their real intentions.
Western United however have shown you can be totally dodgy one season and then reverse everthing.
Valkanis has a uniquely awful record , a correct description of his coaching record would be as an undertaker someone to take a falling club into the afterlife. Milligan has already been around a dodgy clubs so he seems to be in on whatever is happening.
Brisbane Roar Klein is one of the top players, and Herrington could be the best defender. Bility is athletic. Its the dead wood around the club HIngert, Brown if they are not gone then they might as well start digging their graves, same goes for Halloran and Berengeur, and then you have the mysterious case of Jelacic and his activities. He could be a Clayton Taylor style player at least perform some of the time, except he does it none of the time with a few glimpses.. Gilroy is a fruitcake selection at fullback as well.
Newcastle its their up and down nature, Clayton Taylor is like Holman and Thurgate, a barometer where the effort level is at, can be totally dead one game. The addition of Mwoomba was a huge addition. Minizuma delivers a good ball but does little else, at least he is an honest player.

Adelaide supporters will drive and the big advantage with Tarneit its half an hour closer to Adelaide than Melbourne.

He was doing a joke to the crowd of sitting down again because play continued on for over 5 minutes when he was due to come on. I would say the reverse.

Redmayne is taller, has a bigger wingspan, looks in better shape. Deavonish Meares is top heavy, he cant get any high on his dives, and i cant remember him doing any long throws, which Redmayne did a good example in the second half. If DM was brought in to be better with his feet he passed it the opposition.
I cant see how Sydney would have missed the finals with Redmayne and the long shot Deavonish Meares conceeded against Sailor would have been saved by Redmayne.
Popovic has been poor but against City this time he was total rubbish. Why did Talay keep him on instead of Courtney Perkins.

The A-League Men finals are here - and they're missing a huge name

Whats interesting about the first goal conceeded is while Deavonish Meares was poor it could have easily been stopped by Costa. The only Sydney player at the top of the box and he could have easily contested the falling ball. Only sauntering across , he actually went backwards away from the ball which was inexplicable. The whole first half performance from Costa was underwhelming then he improved in the second half.

I dont understand development but I do understand money. There is no way a developer would build a stadium before something they could sell unless it was a requirement. The Leichardt Italian forum the developer agreed to build a public library as part of the development, it was the last thing completed with defects.
If they had an agreement where they already owned the land and could build all the housing, the stadium would be coming on last.

Western United fighting FIFA transfer ban

The FIFA transfer ban thats hardly going to be relevant with the club if it doesnt get the new investors and gets put into the hand of liquidators.
The nature of the deal between the council and WMG is that certain condiitons have to be met before they get the land. What are those conditions , building a stadium is probably one of the conditions. Maybe other condition relates to keeping the team.
Steve Horvat company SAVA engineering has gone into liquidation with debts of just over 10 million, and Horvat has taken personal loans from his company for 4m and has also loaned WMG 500k. Horvat is actually looking to his 4.4% stake in WMG to provide the money to take back control of it or to pay the loans back.
So whoever buys it also has to I assume build the stadium and run the team to get the land on top of the purchase price. As article says they have an offer for 70m , Horvat gave the liquidators a valuation of 150 million for the company and 70m not enough for him to bail himself out.
Sourasis has 80% of WMG is he going to sell his stake or dilute it. What happens to Western United if he sells is it a requirement to keep the team?

Mata is how old, thats why Khafalla went off his rocker, limited time for Mata to do something and get the big bucks for his agent.
To get into Asia the refs give City all the favours and Sydney are the team the refs dislike.
Even if it somehow happens Mata is going to be how old by next year.

Fraser McGurk has a woeful record in all forms of cricket, the only time he has performed was in 2023-24. He was on 20 lahks as an injury replacemrent in the IPL about 40k in 2023-24 but got 230 strike rate with an average 37, his best ever performance in any T20 season . this season he is woeful average 9 strike rate 100 woth a salary of about 1.6 million.

Australia's stars reduced to mere onlookers at IPL as cricket's new world order takes shape

I only look at the IPL stats and the odd highlight.
Statistically Tim David is the best in the IPL this season.
Averages 92 with a strike rate of 197.
Why cant he be selected for the test team if people were suggesting Marsh gets selected on IPL form.,
Next is Josh Butler with 80 at 160.
The young guy is doing 50 at 215 so he rates third.
Pooran is doing 45 at 200 so fourth.
Bowling wise Hazelwood is taking wickets with an ok ecomomy rate.
Narine is continuing his all rounder status, great sr, take wickets, good economy rate.

Newspaper support is secondary, there is one massive issue, you watch Channel 7 its AFL promo after AFL promo on every multi channel, you watch Channel 9 is NRL promo after NRL promo, Channel 10 they have not shown the great A-league promo at all, except during A-league matches. Even Matildas matches the only reason people know they are on is because someone is advertising for ticket sales.

Auckland FC are premiers - but is that a good thing for the A-League?
