Hell, this isn’t even the Sailors’ first time making it this far. They were semifinalists in the first ever AFC Cup, and it took eventual winners Al-Daish to stop them. In that light, it’s fitting that the Sailors would get back to this point after both they and the tournament changed names

As an American myself, sucking up to Trump was one of the most boneheaded marketing moves the NRL could’ve made. Not only is his approval already going down the tubes, but in this term, if you attach yourself to him, you also attach yourself to Elon Musk by proxy. Whatever monetary gains might be made, they’re outweighed by the fact that you’re associating your product with weird losers who have no social skills and ruin Thanksgiving dinner every year. Given that rugby barely has an audience at all over here, the last thing the sport needs is to pre-emptively cast its lot with a demographic that, once they get a hold of something, make it very difficult to pivot towards more mainstream audiences. For the NRL’s sake, I hope this bombs and they have to go back to the drawing board for their next attempt

Welp, that’s probably our season right there. If nothing else, digging through Ligue 1’s dumpster seems to work out well for us, so we should spend the next few months scouting for a quality striker with a similar profile to Germain, then try and grab him ASAP once the next transfer window opens

Thanks for reading it! Glad to hear a Chiefs diehard’s side of things—this whole cardiac wave they’re on can’t be fun, especially compared to the way Washington are a cardiac team. I also hope you’re right about the Lions, because as a Jared Goff fan, the second half of last year’s NFCCG was just brutal to watch

A-League Talking Points: Costa impresses in derby victory, Zdrilic's nightmare start as Bulls shred Perth
Finally, someone talking us up instead of going “Buhhhh me no like Macarthur, league should contract” as if contracting teams wouldn’t look a zillion times worse than giving them a chance to grow. Here’s to another Bulls trophy, and every reward that would come with it
Macarthur are 90 minutes away from powerhouse status with second Australia Cup
I really do think the schedule is what’s keeping Checo around. He brings in mad sponsorship cash from the Americas, and dropping him right before that leg of the tour would burn those bridges immediately. Personally, I want Perez completely locked into his car for as long as possible, because as a Red Bull hater, it only gets funnier the longer he contributes to their downfall. Anyway, I’m gonna go start up a club where we all sit around trying to will Ricciardo into an IndyCar contract so I don’t have to face that his career might have just ended in an unceremonious dumping

In fairness, the Wanderers have promoted the Younis move as “He’s going to PSV!” I just dug into the technicalities and found that he’s starting out with Jong PSV instead of the big boys. It’s really the same situation as Nestor has now that he’s left Adelaide for Bayern–they’ll start him out in the reserves, he’ll get a chance to adjust, and once he proves he’s too good to stay in the reserves, he’ll come up and play with the first team
Australia Cup quarter-finals: Wanderers, Reds set for heavyweight bout... but will Mata play?
I mean, we already know what that what-if looks like. Will Power had that same illegal code on his car in St. Pete, but he was a good boy and didn’t push the button when he wasn’t supposed to, so he didn’t suffer nearly as big of a setback. Full credit to McLaughlin–he owned it immediately, didn’t make excuses, and proceeded to achieve everything since that moment legit–but he is still culpable for his current spot
The IndyCar Afterburn: McLaughlin stays in hunt, Power closes distance as all roads lead to epic Nashville finale
Really? The Milwaukee crowd must have a different bent than the one out here, because when I covered Laguna Seca, I saw a decent share of fans for Power, McLaughlin, and Dixon, even if they all got dwarfed by the support for Pato

Second time's the charm: Is this the season Ange Postecoglou brings some silverware to Tottenham?

Thanks for reading it! And yeah, the Sailors’ form definitely makes them a much tougher task than I initially thought before I did the research for this one. But if Sydney’s defense managed to tighten up and fend off Jeonbuk, who come from a much tougher league, it should be possible against LCS
