Weak decision – not least as this series is effectively a dead rubber.
Aussies take safe option yet again with Head opening but Konstas should not be losing his spot at top of the order
Haha for sure, I just like the idea of chucking them in the deep end for a dead rubber series, but maybe I have my own issues to sort out.
Balancing the rising stars with fading veterans will be key for selectors: How the Aussie squad shapes up for Sri Lankan tour
Dammnit how did I miss that!
The Australian-Indian rivalry reaches new heights after epic summer
I mean he won’t have much of a chance with the Lanka series, possible WTC final, Windies and then the Ashes. We need our GullyBot.
Aussies make major change for fifth Test with debutant called up to replace veteran star
God I’d be spewing if he got the Sydney test and was dropped for Lanka, though that’s going to be a strange squad regardless. Think you’re right on Green, he’ll walk straight back into the side as one of our best batters, so having both these bois able to send down some overs could be nice.

That’s two good calls in a row now, Bailey looking to make some New Years Resolutions?
Probably won’t see Marsh again, not with Webster 3 years younger and Green still to come in. MM got so much hate but I’ll never forget his hundred in the 23 Ashes. I remember pounding instant coffees while my girlfriend told me to turn my swooning down, that was a good night.

Bloody oath it’s as good as sorted then isn’t it? Will be referring to you for all future team whispers.
CONFIRMED: Konstas to debut, Boland returns - but doubts remain over Head
I think a lot of series have been decided by one or two players, this is just that on overdrive.
A Test classic duel for the ages: The BGT hinges on Travis Head's batting against Jasprit Bumrah's bowling
😂
CONFIRMED: McSweeney DROPPED, Konstas set for 'dream come true' debut, pace wildcard recalled for final two Tests
Tough break for the kid. I’m sure he’ll get another crack in the team, but he looks much more of a 3 or 4 to me.
I’m not disappointed seeing Konstas in the squad, but what happens if he fails 3 tests in a row, is he chucked out?

I have my ways. I can’t share them just yet.

Same with Paddy McCartin, absolutely vital last year.
Did a brutal grand final loss wreck the Sydney Swans? A dive into their 2023 woes
The point is more that the teams that did well last year were aggressive in the trade period, whether or not they came off. Sydney opted not to strengthen the team and now it’s come back to bite them.
Did a brutal grand final loss wreck the Sydney Swans? A dive into their 2023 woes
While it’s great the series is still alive, and I think a lot of Aussie fans would agree, you’d back Cummins and Co to deliver in at least one of the next two, right?
UK View: Aussies suffer ‘poetic justice’ for Bairstow incident as England deliver huge ‘psychological blow’
Fantastic article Ben. Summed up my feelings exactly.
The spirit of cricket was murdered in cold blood by sunburnt thugs - and the game might never recover
Excited to see what Murph can do in England! I reckon give Hazlewood a rest and chuck Neser in, he’s pretty handy with the bat.
Aussies make tough call on Lyon's Ashes campaign as opening batter drops out of squad
Bairstow tried the exact same tactic on Labuschagne in the prior innings. Do you really think Stokes would have withdrawn that appeal? What about Ollie Pope running out Colin de Grandhomme when he was limping out of his crease injured? No withdrawal there. This is a professional sport, and if you’re not on your A game like Bairstow, you’ll get punished.
COMMENT: Cummins failed the moral test and tarnished these Ashes. He had the chance to be a legend and blew it
It’s very possible. They’ll start to nab the best players and that’s where a lot of viewership comes from!
