Be careful BG, questioning Boland is akin to shooting Bambi. I can’t see him getting nibble off these decks or being a threat. Also, have to remember, Webster may not have much impact. He has one test, and the Sydney deck was a dream for his type.
Australia need to spin to win: Some bold choices with the bowling attack will be the key to success in Sri Lanka
Uzzie was always a lock in. If the wicket is as expected, not sure if Boland is needed. Webster can do that job. Maybe Connelly at 7 to shaw up the batting. Head can roll his arm over as well. Agree, editing is a thing of the passed.
Australian XI for first Test in Galle: Who misses out if selectors stick with Boland, Konstas and Webster?
At the origin of the BBL, I tried to manufacture team loyalty, so decided Sydney Thunder were to be my team. Being from the Hunter Valley, I took my teenage son and his mate a few times to watch them. Of the 5 games, none were decent, and I decided not worth the travel. My son is now in his 20’s and has no interest in the BBL (had keen interest in BGT). I now pay attention to it as much as I want, which is zilch. Honestly……… I did try.
What happened to cricket's endless summer? Gaping hole in home schedule but there are alternatives
If the wickets are raging turners, Khunemann doesn’t spin the ball a lot, so he will do well (as did Okeefe). To me, Abbott is a class below test level as a bowler. It’s funny how they are considering Handsome Pete based on his record in the sub-continent, but kept selecting Davey boy to go to England.
Australian Test squad: McSweeney set for recall, veteran star out of Sri Lanka tour, bolter shoots into frame
You would think a solid front rower would have no trouble finding a home. He has had a few in the past.
Bulldogs frontrunners to snare Roosters star but Tigers join Dragons in race for prized signature
Agree BG, but I struggle to remember any 50 over classics in the recent years. For me it is the glut of cricket, or maybe it’s getting older and things were “so much better in the old days.” I clearly remember games and scores from the 80’s and 90’s, but would struggle to remember who even played each other in the past few years. 50 overs still has that dead period in the middle. Maybe in the middle overs they should bring the fence in to 20 metres, have only one stump and bowlers can only bowl off one baby step.
Did the thrill of Australia's heavily reduced T20 blast against Pakistan prove the 50-over ODIs are a thing of the past?
I missed the birth of my 1st child. All good now, you can hardly notice the limp.
Indian legend's astonishing reason for wanting to strip Rohit Sharma of Test captaincy
Ah the memories. As a teenager of the 70/80’s and a cricket tragic, with no back yard of note, many a ‘game’ was played in driveways, night soil lanes, roads and car ports. Over the course of 6 weeks, we had smashed every window of the garage. Also, the equipment wasn’t as cheap as now, so the supplier of the taped-up tennis ball was captain. Events such as jumping fences and dodging the neighbor’s dog (and the cranky neighbor) and yelling car and grabbing the garbage can when playing on the road, probably won’t be a common practice these days.
A pitch out the back will cost you extra: Has the housing crisis killed the dream of backyard cricket?
Handscomb’s numbers are good but might be one of those who just couldn’t cement his opportunities at the highest level. I haven’t seen him bat lately, but he had that flaw which test quality bowlers could exploit.
Henry back in the hunt for Test spot with ton as Harris falls to Starc
I agree he has potential, and there has to be caution applied based on the attack he faced. Just now waiting for the sun to rise in the West for the Baggy Blue = Baggy Green comments. 😁
Konstas craving: Why teenage batting tyro needs to be nurtured not rushed into Test team
Agree on the dispensation for long service. The only risk is the end of 2026 is a long way away for a player playing in such an explosive position, and age seems to catch up with players very quickly. I know there are the desperate out there, but would another team be interested at that price? I think he will take unders to stay and hopefully go out near top form.
There's no plausible justification for Tedesco to take a salary cut with Roosters skipper in red-hot form
Wonder how they would fare against an import team. Allan Border, Ian Botham, Greg Chappell, Peter Clifford, Graeme Hick, Gary Cosier, Ian Davis, Jeff Thompson, Ryan Harris, Ray Lindwall, Majid Khan.
Cricket's State of Origin: Queensland's all-time XI is terrifyingly good
Thanks Dave. James Anderson is THE greatest wicket taker as a medium-fast bowler. Stats show this. That is all it does. At his peak, and in optimal conditions, he was brilliant. Interestingly, Broad is less than 100 behind, with 20 matches less. He may have reached 700 if he played the same amount of tests. I won most wickets a few times over the years in my very humble career, but I was not the best bowler.
Would I have him in my best of all time XI team? NO. Best England XI, NO.
I will wait for your averages over a peak etc. Names like Truman, Willis and even Botham may pop up for the poms.
Jimmy the GOAT? - or the perils of aggregate totals
Maybe Team Ponga is raising a bit of noise about 3rd party deals to void that contract?
The Fifita flip: What happens now for reeling Roosters and their unexpected $3.4 million bounty?
Daniel Tupou is going around again. At his age, was always going to be a year to year prospect. Doueihi would be a bargain basement backup only. S Smith is a prospect at 6.
Ponga at 6 has been put to bed. Not sure if the Chooks would like the Team Ponga headache.
The Butcher boys are solid performers. Wong and Angus will feel the love again. Losing a back up 2nd rower is not the end of the world (sorry Sitili).
The Fifita flip: What happens now for reeling Roosters and their unexpected $3.4 million bounty?
I was under the impression Crichton was looking outwards for a while, including French rugby. Was this because he was unwanted, lost interest in the game, or was just playing well below his usual standard. He has been looked after by the Chooks when he took some time off, and has only recently returned to top form.
Roosters chief stunned by HUGE Fifita backflip but Gus says they've 'dodged a bullet'
As a public servant, I resemble that comment!
V'landys may as well be executive chair because he's doing both jobs but league needs to fix lack of female leadership
I’m not sure how history will remember Go, Anderson and Castle, but it would be only fair to judge them on their performance, not gender. Pick the best person for job. If that person be of a different gender, so be it. As the game’s base broadens, diversity will come, and in time flow through the management ranks.

India should prepare turning pitches, but not ‘bunsen burners’. The burners only bring the largely previously unheralded visitors’ spinners into the game (see Kuhnemann, Krejza, Hartley). Greentops at home assist the visitors’ pacers the same way.
Business as usual: India still a dominant force at home
Someone doesn’t want to be where he isn’t wanted. Wonder what came first?
Nofoaluma OUT at Tigers after record-breaking decade of service following brutal Benji blow-up
Agree. Smith is showing the reason the chooks were so patient with him during his run of injuries. DT is so underrated and the chooks look so much better when he plays. I have nothing against JS’s decision to go to RU, and he should not get a run on the wing for round 1 unless there are injuries.
Joey v Dom v Toops: Why the Roosters should ditch Suaalii from their backline for Round 1
and then when that grows, you can have another league with the elite of the elite,or a Super Dooper League. Geez………… just gave myself a headache.
Peace in our times: How long until the NRL is disrupted by another Super League-esque competition?
I can’t see it, but…. More teams coming into a competition naturally reduces the median talent going around every week. That may invite a ‘super’ or ‘premier’ league whio can spruke a best of the best league.

Had a beer (s) with Dougie many years ago (at least I was told I did).
Grabbing a cold one: What I'd like to discuss with David Warner
I have seen Kuhnemann bowl before, but this is the first time I noticed it, and this was before there was any comment about his action. I played with a young bloke whose short ball was definitely a chuck and quite dangerous (based on speed expectations), but nobody was game to talk about it. He was finally called at rep level, but still continued at club level. Just too hard. A bowler who significantly straightens the arm in bowling can obtain an advantage. Obviously, anything under 15 degrees is not significant, so someone decided. Not sure if you can qualify that his action is suspect but not chucking.
Yes, Kuhnemann’s got a suspect action but he’s not a chucker - cricket needs to rethink stigma over throwing claims
