Jack was in the Lions academy straight out of high school so he didn’t play a whole lot of cricket between the age of 17-20, he was in and around Qld under-age cricket teams prior to that. I don’t think he played any First Grade Premier Cricket until he was 21 after the Lions gave him the flick, so while he is 26 he probably is at the same sort of development level as a 22-23 year old cricketer. Keeps getting better and better every season, lovely batsman to watch once he gets through the early innings jitters.
Back to back Jacks as dynamic duo deliver timely tons to revive Bulls hopes of chasing down SA in Shield final
Surely watching Victoria lose is up there with NSW losing. WA losing this season was nice, they had their fun but was time for them to be dragged down. They’ll be at the bottom of the shield ladder for awhile winning nothing, you’re golden era is done for another 30 years.

What on earth do you keep banging on about? Qld have won the vast majority of the finals they have played in for a long time now. I have seen you make this comment many times and it makes zero sense, are you living in a pre-1995 era? When was Qld’s last heartbreaking yet hilarious loss?

The total the redbacks are chasing is 30 higher than any team in shield history has chased down in the 4th innings in the history of the shield

The highest 4th innings winning chase in a shield final ever was 239… The pressure is on the redbacks

Mcdermott averaged 45 from his 5 ODI’s, bit rough to lump him amongst the others
Utter humiliation: Aussies cop second straight caning from a team that didn't even qualify for Champions Trophy
Hahaha what, it was me that told you to details the specifics, how have you turned this back on me? You are the one trying to say averages don’t matter, I am giving you the chance to give me the evidence of what you have tried to claim is more important than simply following averages in regards to Inglis’s ODI performances. The ball is in your court to try to justify the claims you have made, Don.
Utter humiliation: Aussies cop second straight caning from a team that didn't even qualify for Champions Trophy
Ok then, care to detail the specifics of Inglis’s ODI innings then? Which of his 25 ODI innings has he done the things you have listed?
Utter humiliation: Aussies cop second straight caning from a team that didn't even qualify for Champions Trophy
Renshaw has dominated the List A comp for the most part or 4 or 5 seasons now aside from one season, and he has been batting in the middle, which is arguably the hardest spot to bat in 50 over cricket. Mcdermott was given up on way too early despite a successful start to his ODI career, Phillipe hasn’t blow minds but he’s shown he can face more than a handful of overs and build a 50 over innings unlike JFM and Short, even McSweeney averages 40+ in List A cricket and anyone that thinks old man Usman wouldn’t do better than JFM and Short has rocks in their head. People will call out the quality of the one day cup which is somewhat fair, but it’s the best option available if we want to pick players that actually look like they understand the tempo and the match awareness needed for the format. BBL form on its own has never translated in to producing international quality odi players.

How do stats give a distorted view of a player that is averaging 23 after 25 ODI innings, 21 of which were batting in the top 5? Enlighten us, Don, seeing as you seem to think you know so much better than everyone else and constantly make ridiculous unsbstantiated claims that we aren’t watching these games we are making comments on.

You are so full of it
Utter humiliation: Aussies cop second straight caning from a team that didn't even qualify for Champions Trophy
Absolutely insane that Ben McDermott was shafted after 5 ODI’s despite averaging 45 and now the selectors are repeatedly putting us through the torture of having to watch JFM, Short and Inglis play despite constant failures.

I’ve seen you post averages on here many times, but as soon as they don’t work in the favour of your favourite players they suddenly don’t matter. Lol, you sound like a politician.

Recent cricket? I’m looking at the 25 ODI innings he has played and disappointed in. Spin it however you want to make yourself feel better, Don. He has been attrocious in ODI’s and that’s the facts. I have watched all the ODI’s he has has played, despite your deluded insistence that you are the only one that actually watches cricket, and seen him get out for less than 20 on 14 of 25 occasions, that’s simply not good enough.

The trouble is this shouldn’t be the bench strength in this format, none of these guys picked have good domestic List A records. How are we going to find good ODI batsman if we continue to pick new players on nothing but Big Bash form? None of them look to have the slightest clue how to construct a proper ODI innings.

He’s been a handful of good T20i’s, but surely even you can see through your WA tinted glasses and see that he has been terrible in ODI’s, Don? Averaging 23 after 25 innings is unacceptable.

87 (CaXI vs the Lions), 134 and 76no in his last 3 digs. Looks a quality batsman but unfortunately seems to get the old nerves early in his innings. Looks a level above to my eye when he manages to get past those early stages of his innings’, reminds me a lot Shaun Marsh in regard to those early innings jitters. Hopefully his injury isn’t too bad and doesn’t miss any matches.

Owen has followed up his good BBL season with scores of 7, 7 and 0 in the SA20 comp. I’d rather see if he can do what he did in the BBL over an extended period to see if he is not just another flash in the pan like JFM was last season. Not to mention, Owen also averages 11 in 50 over cricket…

Rain a pain in Sri Lanka but Australia so dominant a second Test XI could compete on world stage
The team England has out here is a long way from what their actual 2nd XI team would look like. There is only a few
players in the Lions side that would be genuine 2nd XI or test chances anytime soon, including Bashir who is rated highly despite been a pie chucker. Cook, Rew (who played the CAXI matches), Tongue and Pennington are the only ones close to the England side right now. Neither board will care at all about the results. CA couldn’t even be bothered to sort any reasonable streams for it, or pick more than 3 batsman.

I was going to make a long response about everything else you said until I saw you posting a team with Sean Abbott batting at 7 lmao. Not worth the effort to call all the other terrible takes after seen that.

I suspect he may have left his run too late at 32 with younger guys coming through making runs. Good on him for getting back to this level after been terrible for years to the point of been dropped by NSW, not an easy thing to do

All those names you mentioned are players already have commitments playing in the BBL. None of the guys in the CAXI side have BBL contracts.
