It’s a long time coming. Can’t wait for it to begin !

Riding every bump, bounce and goal - the long wait for AFL fans is almost over

HahahahHahaha, sounds like it’s only a matter of time before we see your son playing Test cricket and we write an article about him.

Ode to Uzzie: 'Lazy' Khawaja never hit heights of Langer or Hayden - but his legacy is sealed

It’s just awesome to see a cricketer who doesn’t whinge every time they get out or spend 30 minutes at the crease staring at the pitch (Marnus).

Ode to Uzzie: 'Lazy' Khawaja never hit heights of Langer or Hayden - but his legacy is sealed

It added to perceptions he was lazy, and he didn’t care. Watson, Johson and Pattinson didn’t have those perceptions across their careers. I disagree, i think he’s in a category below Langer, Hayden, Warner and Tubby.

Ode to Uzzie: 'Lazy' Khawaja never hit heights of Langer or Hayden - but his legacy is sealed

Thanks. It got me thinking, after the retirements of Langer and Hayden, he’s the second best opener behind David Warner.

Both statements can be true. Bowlers have improved, and equally batsman have not improved. The shorter format requires bowlers to develop a far greater arsenal than 20 years ago. As for batsman, with so many T-20 competitions around the world, there’s less and less batsman who are play a long gritty innings. One of my favourites that come to mind is Faf du Plessis in Adelaide in 2012 (I think)

There is plenty of batting talent across the cricket world, but do any fit the mould of the great Ricky Ponting?

The conversation for great batsmen is probably one that can be spoken about for eons. I still would have punter ahead of Smith, but maybe when Smith finishes his career, it’s a worthy debate. Also punters average fell towards the end of his career. But for me peak Ponting is ahead of peak Smith.

That’s a really good shout and to be honest, he’s not one that came to mind. Averaging over 97 and 9 scores of 50 or more in 19 innings absolutely puts him in the conversation. For the sake of Sri Lankan cricket I hope he lives up to his talent.

Some good names on this list. Completely forgot Sam Reid and Sam Day were still on a list. Tom Campbell played on the weekend and i didn’t recognise him.

From role-playing 'journeymen' to one-club veterans trying to crack the best 22: Ten AFL players you forgot still played

A pure luxury to have. A big part of that being that injuries earlier in the season exposed players to playing in positions they wouldn’t have.

'I'm not used to it': After 'two decades of suffering' Carlton have finally arrived, and Blues fans are loving every second

I agree Macca, i think that’s been the best part about this season. The emergence of depth players. We have a squad of 26-27 that could easily fit into our 23 depending on the week. With players like Cerra, Cotters, Martin and Motlop still to come. I’m not even convinced Martin is in our 23. Throw in the campo boys next year and last years first rounder billy wilson looks to be a jet, we’re well placed for a couple of years.

'I'm not used to it': After 'two decades of suffering' Carlton have finally arrived, and Blues fans are loving every second

That’s true, but it felt like after friday night – we can dare to dream. What’s the point in footy if we don’t enjoy the wins?

I agree with that. He’s bowling in both innnings and his batting in the second were crucial in Australia’s victory.

How individual brilliance won the Edgbaston Ashes Test

I can agree its’ a generational difference. You were fortunate enough to see 4 flags. I saw a semi-final finish as the highest we have ever placed. I place Judd in the category of being what the club needed at the time. We didn’t know Kennedy was going to be a star and with our track record of development it’s possible we could have found a way to ruin him. I wrote this paragraph that i edited out due to article length, that explains our frustration

” The Marketing Mirage

The brilliance in the Carlton Football Club lies in their marketing team. The marketing department at Carlton is undeniably the GOAT, standing tall as the epitome of greatness among every organization in the past 30 years. “I am Carlton” “Can you smell what the blues are cooking” “They know we’re coming” “Bound by blue”. I could go on and on but what the club has been able to do is swindle thousands of supporters to believe”

A rollercoaster of hope and heartbreak: The pain of being a Carlton supporter

It’s a long season and i agree, we just never know. It helps the draw is softer at the back end of the season.

A rollercoaster of hope and heartbreak: The pain of being a Carlton supporter

Thank you for sharing your story. I’m going to go learn about the 87 grand final, it was long before i was born but it sounded like the greatest of days. All of us supporters are on this journey together.
The ups, downs and everything in between. For me, i thought Judd was what we needed at the time. Someone to lift the club off it’s feet. To give us that feeling of hope that we can contend.

A rollercoaster of hope and heartbreak: The pain of being a Carlton supporter

I had an entire paragraph on the marketing hype, the ability for the club to swindle thousands of supporers to believe and the green shoots which i had to sacrifice for editing length. They were just promises that were broken.

A rollercoaster of hope and heartbreak: The pain of being a Carlton supporter

I could not agree more. If anything there’s been more pain and suffering than joy and celebration. 😂

A rollercoaster of hope and heartbreak: The pain of being a Carlton supporter

I agree, the list is top heavy. I could also point to the game plan, the lack of cohesion between defence and offence and the fact carlton’s bottom six players are quite poor compared to other finals teams.

Greg, it’s almost like foreshadowed last night’s result. You can almost say, few games this week are a lock. And if there is a belting, i doubt it would be one we see coming.

The footy is back, and those who tell us it's just a game can stick it

After that game in round 1 , i don’t think any of us footy fans are getting off the couch !
