Lest We Forget: Remembering Australia's cricketers who died on the battlefield

Very true I hope tho that people read this article more and more so they never take these things for granted. It’s a special memorable day in Australia and my heart just melted when I got to know and researched about these cricketers

Oh its not a direct quote it’s just what the social media and other media outlets over react to. Sorry if there was a typo in there

BGT is absolutely box office - where does it rank among the great cricket rivalries?

Well the series hasn’t even started and saying that this current crop hasn’t worked hard is just a statement that doesn’t makes sense. I agree we had steel in our batting lineup but every team has to move on and I don’t think it’s gonna be a miracle or a big surprise if India win it again. The aussie batting line up is really vulnerable and the bowling line up is hostile but I’d be more fearful of Indian batsman facing the bowlers who they haven’t played much like boland. A ICC tournament is a ICC tournament saying that Wt20 was a tinpot doesn’t make a cricket fan look cool mate. I think India winning that trophy has given them more confidence given the monkey is off the back now of winning a ICC trophy and yes aussie batters are in a form slump in test cricket right now, it’s not a aussie batting lineup I’d be scared of given they have a debutant opener and rusty and out of form middle order with Carey and Usman looking the only decent ones. If you don’t think so then maybe you are in a bit of delusion there mate.

The crucial call India must make to show they'll be brave enough to fight fire with Aussie fire

Well, it’s a fact that Australian batters aren’t in form at all in tests right now be it in the shield games or the test matches from last year. I agree India was clueless but I also don’t think India should be written off this early. From the author’s article, it felt like of course both teams had a vulnerable batting line up but India’s batting is way more vulnerable which I don’t really agree with since both have been terrible. All I say is do watch the 2020-21 series again and you will find that under-estimating the Indians always bites back. I might sound biased towards the Indian team but its a fact that I cant really say Australia are heavy favourites given their batting form. I hope it turns out to be a great series once again between bat and ball and not a bowling dominating series

The crucial call India must make to show they'll be brave enough to fight fire with Aussie fire

Malcolm India have always been a bat first team in overseas they prefer batting first always. If you go back to the 2018 test season of India they toured South Africa, England and Australia and the test matches they won were the matches they batted first and put up a decent score on the board and bowling attack was enough to make the most out of it. But I think India might think of bowling first this time given their batting is a bit vulnerable and there are no old horses in pujara and rahane who could hold one end up.

The crucial call India must make to show they'll be brave enough to fight fire with Aussie fire

I understand your point completely Gordon but there’s definitely a bit of underestimation regarding the Indian team leading to the test series the great example is Brendon Julian saying Aussies would wrap India up in 4 days that’s a statement that can actually come and bite him. For now, this series is giving me the 2020-21 vibes. About the Perth pitch he is absolutely right its gonna be a really difficult and low scoring test match given the vulnerabilities in both the teams batting lineup

The crucial call India must make to show they'll be brave enough to fight fire with Aussie fire

I think India gets written off pretty easily before the start of every border Gavaskar series, which helps them play well and defeat the Aussies at their home pretty well. You are right that this Perth pitch is dangerous and will be the most testing pitch of the whole series but the comment about India showing a white flag before the ball is bowled in a series shows the level of underestimation for this Indian team by the Aussies. Australia’s batting lineup right now is even more vulnerable given they don’t have a proper opener right now, their main batters be it Smith or Labuschagne are in pretty poor form and the likes of Travis Head and Mitch Marsh are players who are coming with a lot of white-ball cricket and are pretty out of touch in the longest format. Alex Carey and Usman Khawaja are the only one who looks like they can challenge India. I’m, not saying Indian batting isn’t vulnerable but because of the 3-0 drubbing against New Zealand, the Aussie batting lineup has gone under the radar. I don’t expect any good batting display from Australia as well. This series is gonna be dominated by fast bowlers

Oh it was not a test match mate it was a t20. But thank you so much Gordon!! Lovely to see you take time out to read my articles hope you loved it!!!

The King's last dance Down Under: Can Virat Kohli deliver one last masterclass in Australia?

Hey mate thank you for that comment well that comment was actually made after that innings against Pakistan since Kohli was going through this phase of no 100s and a lot of stuff and also being out of form so when he scored 82* against Pakistan that really marked the comeback of the great man!!!

The King's last dance Down Under: Can Virat Kohli deliver one last masterclass in Australia?

Yeah true but I have had my fair shares of loving test cricket and I love it to core. Tho I might be of this Gen-Z generation I have loved every test match. My favourite being the Headingley test match of 2019 ashes, the gabba one in 2021, the Lord’s test match in 2021. where India won by getting England all out in 60 overs on the last day of the test match and yes the coming behind win of New Zealand over England last year in 2023 where they won by 1 run after being forced to follow on. But I agree I definitely won’t get that feel like how you all got it especially hearing Richie Benaud and Tony Greig live!!.

Really interesting insight that. Shows your tremendous knowledge BigGordon!!. What’s your thought about commentary these days? Do you enjoy it and do you miss the radio commentary as well?

Well I guess they were meant to share that. So ironic!!

Oh yes certainly. His commentary is an art of story telling that I love. The poetry in his commentary and the necessary analysis is the perfect balance. I’d day nasser and athers have been terrific as a duo might be the only ones who give vibes of Richie Benaud and Tony Greig!!!

Two of cricket's iconic voices that still echo a decade later: Remembering Richie Benaud and Tony Greig on their shared birthday

Well it’ll be a shock if I say I actually didn’t grow up listening to these legends. By the time I started even taking interest in cricket both had left the world. But this is where your patents come in right? Especially the dad’s he told me about them then I saw the desert storm innings of Sachin Tendulkar on TV because my dad showed me and fell in love with Tony greig’s commentary and then that curiosity of a new cricket fan builds up instantaneously so you research more and yeah played the EA cricket 07 game and Richie Benaud commentating alongside Mark Nicholas made my day!! I feel the more the older generations educate the new generations about these people and cricket of old days the more adherent cricket fan you become!!

This makes my day mate after all those agreements and disagreements for the David warner piece I wrote 3 months ago ????. Thank you so much!! I appreciate it!!.Who’s your favourite commentator these days!!

Wow that’s definitely a gem. Bill Lawry, Richie Benaud and Tony Greig. I doubt any broadcasting team can manage to have a trioka of commentars like these. What do you think about the commentary these days?

Two of cricket's iconic voices that still echo a decade later: Remembering Richie Benaud and Tony Greig on their shared birthday

To be honest, judging someone like Kohli who hasn’t played much international cricket this year is a bit unfair. He played the Afghanistan t20is in jan then played international cricket in June only and then in july and now in September. he is a rythem kind of player the more he plays the moe better he gets these constant long breaks haven’t been good to him. He was great in IPL this year tho he became better and better with each match!!. With 7 tests ahead this year 3 in India against New Zealand and 4 against Australia in the summer we can judge him after that,

Best white-ball batter in the world? Head takes crown from King Kohli by pulverising Poms with record-breaking knock

Thank you so much for the long and informative comment mate(sorry don’t know your real name) hopefully you did enjoy my writing and yeah I never told him he is the number 1 Australian odi player which I feel is bevan but if you can be in top 5 of all time for Australia in all formats that’s amazing versatility!!

Just Bull: The lack of respect for David Warner is absurd - he is without doubt Australia’s greatest all-format cricketer

Well tbh I’d call him an Australian odi great just because of the sheer impact he has had on the format and the world cups . I think anyone contributing a lot to two world cup wins does come under the list of ODI greats and having 6000+ runs in 160 ODIs is no joke but agree with all of what you have said

Just Bull: The lack of respect for David Warner is absurd - he is without doubt Australia’s greatest all-format cricketer

It’s not me mate I think you haven’t heard Australian journalists and ex cricketers talk about it. Shane Watson has been talking about it since the last 3 now. The podcasts like the grade cricketer who clearly do know a bit more than us admit it that t20 cricket is the way to go in future for now and as a Indian fan this win was prestigious for a lot of emotional reasons and them winning a world cup after 13 years and a ICC tournament after 11 years ask any Indian fan they would have loved see their team win the 50 over world cup last year over this

Just Bull: The lack of respect for David Warner is absurd - he is without doubt Australia’s greatest all-format cricketer

True
