I think they are still amazing coaches it just takes time for the players to learn and star in new systems. Now that Hardwick has had enough time to put his fingerprints over the team he should be able to use his run and gun style with the Suns and with that bring success (Maybe).

Year of the Sun: Can Gold Coast finally feature in September for the first time?

This will be the year of Neil Erasmus, can’t wait for him to tear apart games for the dockers.

Why Dockers can live up to 'Flagmantle' moniker in 2025... for real this time

I agree with most of what your saying but the key ides for this series is that you don’t need to pick the best team. With nothing on the line their is no reason to play Khawaja unless they were preparing him for the world test championship final, but they will be completely different conditions at lords, he would arguable be better preparing in Australia where attacks will be more pace dominant then spin.
I would be happy for Khawaja and Konstas to open together in Sri Lanka to gain some kind of relationship opening together, building their chemistry and learning each others game further but at the moment with all the talk about Head opening it doesn’t even look like that will be the case.
Khawaja is far from a bad player and could easily be one of the best openers in Australia at the moment but their is still very limited benefit in picking him for a series where they clearly are looking towards youth.

Why Khawaja doesn’t deserve to keep his spot in the starting XI against Sri Lanka

Interesting questions, I think their is certainly uproar from the traditional fans when teams move like when Seattle became OKC but it doesn’t take long for it to be the new norm. I guess it is accepted more from the NBA as their has been success in most moves and they i guess have some trust in the NBA in their methods.
With a genuine expansion draft however due to it being the addition of two teams rather then a shift from one to another it often is easier. It is also easier when their isn’t competition from another team in the city which allows them to fully take over the market and fans become excited for their own city to have a team like Las Vegas.

Can the NBA become a global competition? The case for one of the world's biggest sports to have an expansion draft

Thank you, I think Seattle and Las Vegas are the right places for an expansion which is obviously why its going to happen, but I think another team in Canada or Mexico could be the move after those two are added.
I think the good thing for the fan is that the fan can watch the league expand and enjoy a better viewing experience and the commissioner can bring in a lot more revenue at the same time as its really a win win. I do agree though that revenue is the commissioners main driving factor.

Thats not a bad shout at all, I think that with the Swans though because they have so many stars that it is hard to be a ‘breakout’ player because their isn’t enough opportunity to have massive impact on the game. I do think that he is a really good chance though to play a lot and play his role well.

Are these 2023 AFL draftees primed for breakout seasons?

Because their is no importance to these games, so why not give him a go. If it doesn’t work it doesn’t matter, but if it does work you could find yourself an all rounder who can bowl handy spin at only 21 years old.
Massive upside and limited risk.

Another debutant deserves his day: How Australia should line up for first Test in Galle

I certainly agree on the McSweeney idea that he’s not an opener at the moment but he might have to reinvent himself just due to a lack of available places elsewhere. I just can’t see anyone else filling that void who will have more success then McSweeney will just due to a lack of runs up the top in shield cricket from everyone.
Smith and Lyon will definitely have their choice of when to retire similar to Warner but my hope is that Australia don’t go along this route because I feel it can stunt other players such as Green and Murphy who need exposure at the top level, mainly in important series like the Ashes.

I understand that Australia have a reluctance to change players that have given so much to the team over a number of years, but I’m hoping that they can start to incorporate an idea of picking on current form instead of their past form.
