I’m not referring to Freo injuries as a reason for losing or as an excuse.
I refer to them to point out that Vic teams (Collingwood, Carlton, Bulldogs…) are always given the injury rider but the Freo count is not acknowledged. It’s as simple as that. Be balanced.

Darcy, in less than half the game time of Cameron…or Jackson…got more than half of the hitouts. He gives our mids first possession. It’s amazing how many don’t get what he does because he doesn’t look as ‘unicornly’ athletic as Jackson. Even around the ground, his disposals were proportionately comparative. Freo has missed him (and Young) and I hope we don’t miss him (them) for too long this time. I’ll guarantee that Brayshaw and Serong will miss him. His follow up blocking, shepherding and tapping out is more valuable than Jackson’s ground ball follow up. Jackson competes with Serong and Brayshaw for ground ball whereas Darcy facilities it.

Not quite. It was when they stopped and second guessed that they turned the ball over. Pies read handball play ons and change of direction kicks so well. Freo telegraphed those. The last quarter, Freo played like that first quarter.
They had reason to be happy. Get some of those many injured players, especially the experienced ones, and the mistakes will be lessened.

Lots of gloom and doom, mostly from non-Freo fans, about a game that Freo lost by 14pts with many more out than Collingwood did.
When Freo played with fluency, we were on top big time. They just took first options. That was the difference…that and preciseness.

I am now up to 21 of footy media tipsters who have mentioned the Collingwood outs without acknowledging Freo outs. That all I have read, watched or listened to. Not one comments on Freo’s injuries. This week is the least we have had and it’s still more than most.

It is another simple advantage to Collingwood. Don’t ever imagine they are ever on the wrong end of away games.
Add to that the fact they never play in Hobart, Darwin, Alice Springs or Canberra.

Regarding travel, Pies have travelled only twice this year, once to Brissy and once when everyone travelled to home round.

Oh no. I’m not accepting that at all. It is only the fact he has missed so much with injury that he is not there now. He was a first round draftee and an early Rising Star nomination. He hasn’t had a run at it since. Last year was his first extended stint and, like Walters and Freddy, kicked 20 plus goals. Fully fit, match fit, he is better than Frederick and Dudley and more team effective than Bolton.
One wonders why, of that list, you pick out 2 that you think may not measure up and hope no one notices the others.
My point was about how readily other teams ‘outs’ are mentioned and, apart from me, no one ever concedes Freo’s injury limitations. It’s too much of a sport to mock them for being “inconsistent”.

He played every game last year and was the driving force behind our clearance game. The “limping” narrative is a hopeful one not based on any fact. It can only be read as ‘hopeful’ for those denying the reality of a complete last season.
