To be fair it can be hard to fall asleep on top of a mattress stacked with Visy brown paper bags, and the brownlow and premiership medal.
Six Points: The AFL let everyone down in the Willie Rioli saga - especially Willie Rioli
You’re all missing the big picture here. Darcy won the hitouts and that is all that matters. Seriously though, those clearance stats looked like an Eagles’ game.
Footy Fix: Freo, once again, are broken - and this time, it might just be coach-killing
At this stage in the rebuild it’s more about processes and keeping a core group of youngsters together. Results will follow
Rebuild vs resurrection: It won't be the best game of the round, but Eagles-Dees could be the most intriguing
Eagles cooked but we knew that already. If last season was well-done. We’ve improved to a medium-well
Six Points: Roo's ridiculous suspension demands MRO overhaul, and are the Blues ... back?
I guess Nash will have some free time to learn about how gravity works then.
AFL News: Nash learns fate for Miers strike as Lethal calls for red cards, Scott defends Smith's antics, Bomber's headbutt ban
That is a glass half-full way of looking at things. If Allen and Reid go we’ll have a bevy of early draft picks so there’s that. Allen’s a good player but at this stage there’s no need to sell the farm to retain an injury-prone key position forward when there are promising talls in the ranks. The midfield is where the holes are at and where the recruitment team needs to be held to account. I believe Barrass left due to whiplash at the no of inside 50s conceded.
The Eagles are finally on the right track - so let's leave them (and Harley Reid) alone
Eagles have thus far played Gold Coast (3pm), Brisbane (midday), Fremantle (3pm) and then GWS (afternoon). It’s a hot time for footy.
The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions, Round 5: Welcome to Gather Round III - who's leaving Adelaide with a W?
I think it would be the height of parochialism to compare Barassi’s achievements with Clough’s. Different sports on a different scale altogether.
The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions, Round 5: Welcome to Gather Round III - who's leaving Adelaide with a W?
Bad round of gastro before round 1 apparently – lost quite a few kilos and conditioning
Six Points: Hinkley's Port reach breaking point, Crows should quit sooking, and the recruit holding North back
There is a decent core of youngsters there outside of Harley Reid. Just need to get games in them. Allan hasn’t even debuted yet and Hewett will get more of a run this year. In 2 seasons the team might look like this – back – Bhazzo, Bock, Ginbey, Hough; Mids Reid, Hewett, Allan, Hall, Gross, Dewar; Forwards – Williams, Reid, Long, Champion. Need a good ruckman and some mids
Six Points: Hinkley's Port reach breaking point, Crows should quit sooking, and the recruit holding North back
Last weekend was a start – a very young team forced by injuries to McGovern, Ryan, Waterman and Yeo. J Williams, Dewar and both Reids are showing promise. Ginbey and Hough will be stars. Just have to continue with the youngsters. The issue is the mid 20s-30s list cloggers- Duggan, Cole etc.
Six Points: Hinkley's Port reach breaking point, Crows should quit sooking, and the recruit holding North back
Can we send Duggan together with Allen to the Hawks? At least the kids look all right. Mini has had the hospital pass of all hospital passes.

The circumstances under which he left the West are interesting.
AFL News: 'Incredibly remorseful' Eagles skipper apologises for Mitchell meeting, Pies' Opening Round request mocked
3 debutants for the Eagles this week. Should be a nice baptism of fire.
The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions, Round 4: Is this the unlikeliest match of the week ever?
I don’t disagree. Suspect we will have pick 2, 3 and 2 other first-rounders by the end of the year plus several second-rounders.

At least he hasn’t punched anyone yet. We’ll be fine. A first round free agency pick and young promising talls is the one area of the squad we are not deficient in.

I will never ever be critical of Oscar Allen (wink wink) but he really needs to work harder as a captain. The body language is shocking. Needs to see how Waterman runs all day and puts in a contest. Might be conserving his body for free agency.
Six Points: AFL must ban Balta, Mansell sanction the right one at the wrong time, and are Gold Coast... good?
Fyfe and Darcy aren’t injury-prone. The strapping is protective according to a local scribe.
Six Points: AFL must ban Balta, Mansell sanction the right one at the wrong time, and are Gold Coast... good?
Eagles played at midday in Brisbane followed by an early afternoon game in Perth. I was at the latter. It was uncomfortably warm from the stands. Would have thought both games, in March climes, merited a night fixture.

The headband must be preventing recognition of the irony of a Vic team fan complaining of an interstate teams enjoying a fixturing advantage.

No business class flights though.
Six Points: Friday night's umpiring wasn't THAT bad, and why 22 out of 23 Bombers should be embarrassed
It will be a spicy derby next week. Eagles have nothing to lose. Win and it’s a derby win. Lose and Longmuir stays ????. Dockers strong favourites with Bailey (?hamstring), Waterman (calf) and Graham (old man hip knack) out.
Six Points: Friday night's umpiring wasn't THAT bad, and why 22 out of 23 Bombers should be embarrassed
Come again?

So good he had to say it twice. I do wonder how Rodney will go about coaching two clubs at the same time.

Have a like just for your glorious last sentence.
