The AFL hasn’t been particularly friendly to Hawthorn in the recent past as it wants the other big Vic clubs to rotate through periods of success as the Tigers, Cats and Pies have done recently and Melbourne to a lesser degree. Carlton has been on the primetime runway for years now but continue to fail to takeoff.
The recent resurgence in Hawthorn’s prospects under Mitchell has forced the AFL’s hand in giving the club some improved exposure in 2025, after being hidden away in Sunday twilight last season so it was no surprise to me it would churlishly refuse to fully celebrate the most successful club in the modern era by allocating an off-broadway slot for our centenary year.
We’ll just need to comfort ourselves with all those premiership cups, I guess… 😛

Maybe move the ball by hand a bit more rather than put it on the boot under pressure which often results in more turnovers than a pie shop…
