if Johns stands next to him and “can’t believe how big he is” then he’s in. also helps if “he’s a good player …. a really good player”.

A beginner’s guide to Origin speculation: Bluffing your way to 'logically' choose between bolters and blunders

i wasnt sorry to see him leave Saints, always thought that age would catch up.

Five and a Kick: Latrell magic buries Broncos in Bunnies boilover, Des defies doubters as Titans escape Knights' clutches

i heard the Pie Man, Trell & Cobstar have a special training/diet programme that they stick to religiously, its a bit like the Piggy Riddell diet.

well, they’re not favourites & thats always a good thing for us.

i’m 1 from 3 mate, thanks to the Hammer.

yeah, statistics ….. he was dreadful in the first 30 minutes, i guess a few weeks off will do that.

yep, i lived down the road, pretty well next door to the bowling club. the Playroom was fantastic, Runaway Bay Hotel was good too – The Party Boys with either Clapton, James Reyne, Kevin Borich, Buz Bidstrup were regular.

no, its a fashion statement.

you forgot haircut (or lack of).

i was at Bombay Rock on opening night, i think Men at Work played the first & second nights, and then UB40 played on the Sunday night.

the Big Tackle end-of-town knows how to do business.

Five and a Kick: Herbie goes bananas with blistering try as Dolphins give Eels the slip

Kaufusi is a coachs’ delight, as he has Big Tackle & Low Tackle covered – he can grass-cut some-one easily and he can also take some-one’s head off as required.

Five and a Kick: Herbie goes bananas with blistering try as Dolphins give Eels the slip

Hammer – my fav player at the moment. so easy to watch. only thing that would make him look better is a big RedV on him.

Five and a Kick: Herbie goes bananas with blistering try as Dolphins give Eels the slip

agree to a point, but the low tackle lands the attacker on his front on his elbows, in perfect position to flex up for a quick play-the-all – which coaches hate as it doesn’t give the defenders time set their line.
it also stops the second/third defender going in for the flop. refs are really strict on anyone coming in after the legs tackle has cut the attacker down. this is one of my pet hates, where the high tackling attracts three or so defenders, and they all flop on top, peel off slowly one by one so to give time for teammates to set the line.
it’s a blight on the game – the low tackle is skilful and looks great, and the holding/dancing/wrestling stuff is awful. early in that game last night Kaufusi pulled off a beautiful, grassing tackle & the Phins got pinged because some-one else was a nano second too late coming in.

Five and a Kick: Herbie goes bananas with blistering try as Dolphins give Eels the slip

centre is a funny position. if the team is getting bettered through the middle, their opportunities are few & limited to out-of- you-own-end hit-ups – and they get bagged for not being “involved”. but with space or clever halves or just plain skill, they look wonderful. Mitchell, Staggs, Suli, Herbie, Best – all can break the line wide open.

Five and a Kick: Herbie goes bananas with blistering try as Dolphins give Eels the slip

yep, he’s more Gutho than Gutho.

yeah, but you know there’s the Duftstar and then there’s … well, daylight.

second that. to me the tipping this year is really tricky. i also feel that each team is capable of running up a score, even the Dragons seem able to score tries again. Eels & Titans (Rd 4 I think?) in the games they have won, scored points. if a team gets on a roll, they can pile them on which definitely has not been the case in seasons recent past.

Seventeen reasons to be positive about the 2025 NRL season … and the obligatory criticism

i was thinking Ponga must have a separate dressing room. he seemed to have a touch of the Gutho’s the last game, really giving it to his team-mates.

NRL Round 10 Team Lists: Maguire makes big call on Mam, Bulldog learns judiciary fate, Bunnies' big reshuffle

I reckon Latrell just cant mentally get himself involved in a game – it’s not physical, and he wants to be more involved, it’s just some sort of disconnect in his brain.

NRL News: Roosters' cut-throat call on Young, Bizarre reason behind Fifita axing, Samoan teammates vie for Origin spot

when they played the Dragons at Wollongong the other week, David did 2/5th of F/A, and then in one run he barrelled most of the Dragons team on an angled 40m swerving run, then off-loaded for a direct Titans try. enigma doesn’t cover it.

NRL News: Roosters' cut-throat call on Young, Bizarre reason behind Fifita axing, Samoan teammates vie for Origin spot

“Fifita touched the ball just 11 times, made nine runs for 58 metres and a modest tally of 20 tackles despite playing the full 80 minutes of Ipswich’s 32-0 loss to the Northern Pride.” – Paul’s article from the Roar yesterday. so in AFL parlance thats say 30 “involvements” a game or 15 a half. which is diabolical. his new team mates must have been wondering why he was there.

my daughter is a Dolphins fan, and we watched it on delay. their cover defense was pretty bad, forwards just couldn’t keep up with the Chooks. even Herbie & Jack has some boo-boos. only shining light (again) was the Hammer – i could watch him play all night.

Five and a Kick: What a winger Nawaqanitawase is - Roosters roll dreadful Dolphins, Bunker drama as Sharks shake off Eels

i hope Nawaqanitawase does play Origin, just to see if they can fit his name on the back of the jersey.
